A breakthrough in the world of high quality kettles! MegaPot 1.2™ is a masterpiece, not just another steel pot. Every detail has been thought through to enhance the homebrewing experience. Crafted of stainless steel for ease of cleaning. Stay cool silicone handles on the kettle and lid serve to limit scorching! The handles are riveted in place to aid in lifting a hot liquid-filled pot. No weld failures here! A polished stainless steel band surrounds the upper rim, reinforcing rigidity of the pot while adding a little bling. And that's not all. We've added the feature that every brewer wants in a kettle - graduated volume markers inside the kettle - one at each gallon. No more need for a sight glass! The heart of the kettle is a 4mm thick Tri-Clad bottom- made specifically for even heat distribution. The 1.2 proportion of MegaPot has been scientifically designed to promote a vigorous boil and reduce off-flavors. And last of all, the MegaPot 1.2 logo is stamped on every kettle. When you have the best, show it off!

My best kettle purchase yet!
Thoughtfully purchased the 20gal Megapot 1.2 kettle to replace my old 15 gal s/steel kettle. The Megopot holds nice, consistent temps (thanks 5mm clad bottom!) during step mash regime (I also insulate outside of kettle after I flame out). After Mash-out grains are transferred and the Megapot turns into my boiling kettle. My batch sizes are for 11 gallons of finished beer w/ an initial boil volume of 13+/- gallons. With a 20 gallon (I actually think this kettle is almost 21 gallon as 20 gallon interior marker seems almost a gallon below rim) I have no problems with boil overs even during a rigorous boil w/ 100,000 BTU heat source. Another nice addition is interior markers on the gallon, for every gallon - no need for a dip tube or cane-marker. Lid is nice and snug fitting, handles are sturdy and never get too hot to handle. My only issue was with seating the ball valve - leaked on me during test filling a couple times until I got it seated properly - no problem after that. Didn't spring for the thermometer as I have better/quicker alternatives for heating/cooling. All in all a great purchase. I've looked for comparable kettles and this is the best product on the market, especially for the price. Probably the last kettle you'll need.

Great Kettle, Great Price
Solid boil kettle. Inline thermometer works great. Heats up quick. Plenty of room to avoid boil overs. Looks great and priced well.

Mash or boil - this is it.
This is the second MegaPot I've bought. I now have a 15 gal and a 20 gal MegaPot and I use them for both Mashing and Boiling. For the price I feel these are great pots. I get a nice even temperature across the bottom when boiling and I really like the etched gallon markers on the inside of the pot. They are easy to read during the boil and I much prefer these markers to the sight glass that I have on my Blichmann BoilerMaker.

Versatile Kettle
This a great kettle. I have two 20 gal Megapots. I am using one for the mash with a false bottom and the other for the boil. I am recirculating wort and the kettle retains heat well. I am getting good even heat with the boil. Volume markings etched inside the kettle very helpful. This is a great, heavy duty kettle.

Mega Awesome
The thing is monsterous. Great quality. It's bulky so if you're going to be moving it a lot you'll want to make sure you order some protein powder to recover.

great BK for 10 gal batches
I have a blichmann toptier with a 15 gal HLT, a 15 gal MT and a 20 gal BK (with megapot 1.2, with temp and ball valve). I brew 10 gallon batches and the 20 gallon kettle is great for this purpose. I usually begin a boil about 14 gallons so the extra space is greatly appreciated. I've brewed about 15 batches with this rig --- I've even been able to do an occasional 5 gal batch (if it's high gravity). I use a plate chiller, so I use a very large SS hop spider in the kettle with my leaf hops. This kettle is fantastic...however, it arrived with a ding in both the side wall, and on the lid....however, it doesn't impact performance so I don't really care. I was concerned that the gallon etchings would disappear with time, as some mentioned in previous reviews. I was very happy to see these are hanging on well. The color of them definitely faded away...but the base etching is still there. As long as that hangs on I'm fine...if those markings go away I'll be very upset. It also has some minor areas of corrosion of some kind on the outside wall - but nothing on the inside. Pretty lame for having this just a year, but again - it doesn't affect performance at this time. Anyway, I love this kettle.

Excellent kettle for large scale BIAB
I bought the Megapot 1.2 20g just over a year ago. I've been using it for BIAB with a 17g turkey frying basket inside it to help keep the bag in shape. Works great, this big of a kettle lets you do some pretty large batches of very high gravity beer (I've done 10g of high gravity styles Imperial Stouts/Barleywines in it with a total grainbill of over 40lbs each and had room to spare)Great kettle, well worth the step up from 15g if your planning on large batches, especially with BIAB.

What is the grade of S.S.?
Also, where is the pot itself made?
B A on Jul 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Literature online does not list this information. Contact manufacture for additional details.
How high/low inside the pot does the thermometer probe project? I brew for 6 gallons of finished beer and start boils with 7.25 gallons. Would this kettle cover that as well as 10 gallon batches?
D A on Jan 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The probe is 5 inches up from the bottom, which is also about the 5 gallon mark. It's a little overkill for 6 gallon batches but will work. 10 gallon batches are absolutely no problem, I routinely do 15 gallon boils with no concern at all about boil over.
The handle broke on the lid broke off during it's first use. Does Northern Brewer, repair or replace?
M J on Jan 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Northern Brewer offers a one year warranty on items, but does not include accidental damage. Feel free to call in or reply here, we need order info and address verification before we can help with any claim request. Photos are also helpful and details on what happened. We might be able to send a new lid. Otherwise, if you know a welder they can probably get it on even better than it was before. Cheers!
When this pot configured with the ball-valve, is the dip tube included?
K L on Jan 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. If you use a false bottom though you wouldn't use it.
approximately how much does the 20 gallon mega pot weigh?
Q U on Nov 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: About 25 LBS
I have a few questions:
- Are the ports welded or weld-less?
- Are there female pipe threads on the inside of the kettle on the lower port? If so, are they 1/2"?
N O on Jan 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The ports are weldless and the kettle uses our Isoflow bulkehead and dip tube.

http://www.northernbrewer.com/isoflow-single-piece-bulkhead

That has 5/8" male threads on the inside and the included dip tub slides in. If you are using the kette as a mash tun you can get the 3/8" barb insert to connect tubing.
