It's Huge!
It's big, get's the job done, and looks really impressive when your non-brewing buddies see it sitting on the Maelstrom in the background.

4L starters made easy
Great flask for making 4L starters for my 10-12 gallon batches! I used it to create 34 starters and have never had a problem, except for that pesky boil over when you don't watch it closely enough.

Works Great
I actually bought this to replace an old 4000mL flask that the physics department used to make tea in. Hasn't cracked, and holds tea for 20! (Enough beer for four?)

Awesome for high gravity or 10gallon brews
I'm new to brewing but this flask has been awesome so far. Safe to boil in on my little gas burner, my DIY stir plate with either 1" or 2" stir bar will get a strong steady vortex for 24hrs, what more needs to be side. Definitely worth having in your brew room if you do 5gal high grab beers and a must for 10gallon batches!

Gas vs electric stove
With a gas stove, camp stove or other gas sourced heat the flask will not break. They all have a grate between the heat source and the flask and are not "direct heat".An electric stove's heat is too direct and requires a buffer. Either make a "trivet" with a coat hanger bent into a star pattern (google) or even place a thick frying pan or sauce pan between the stove and the flask. I hope this helps.

Great for large starters
I had some spill overs when trying to make large starters in the 2L flask so I bought this one. I would rate it 5 if the stir bar didn't stick a bit to the sides when starting the stir plate.

they break
I used it for a long time, heat and chill. This time not so lucky. As I was heating it broke. What a mess.

Handle with Care, Fragile
These have a tendency to break, I was told that they sometimes contain flaws exacerbated by shipping. The first one I received broke just sitting in my ice bath after heating my starter in it, but I called and it wasn't a problem to replace. I won't be heating it on my stove or putting it in an ice bath to chill any longer. Recommend treating it like glass.

Expensive and Wobbly
Not entirely pleased with this purchase, this flask is priced significantly higher than the competition and the glass bottom is kind of wobbly

Breaks easy
I have been through two of these now. They break very easy but there is nothing better for doing large starters where you need a flat bottom for use on a stirplate. Wish they were not so breakable.

I thought these were supposed to be borosilicate, meaning they could handle being heated and chilled without exploding? Seems to be mine wasn't cause I have a pot of cold water with 5 liters of malt and a large crack in the glass

What size foam stopper fits in the neck?

BEST ANSWER: The 46mm-60mm stopper will work great!
