I'm using these to carb and dispense with the cannon ball keg and it seems like I can only get use from 1 cartridge. I set the mini regulator to 10psi. Shouldn't I be able to reuse the cartridge to carb/dispense more than just once?
A shopper on Dec 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can however here are a couple of things to keep in mind. Forced carbonation with your keg and cartridge uses a lot of CO2. I have tried not using priming sugar and doing forced. I uses one or more cartridges. My advice is to prime your beer whether into a bottle, jug or keg. Just remember, glass jugs 64 oz or 1 gal can burst if over-pressurized. I use tap it jugs which are shaped like a propane tank and made out of PET and can handle a higher pressure.
Another thing is if you have a leak around the keg seal, the CO2 disappears very quickly. It shouldn't leak but a small leak will do your cartridge in. I am experimenting with food grade silicone (available from NB) and it seems to give a quick, good seal. It is a little goopy though.
So: 1. Prime your beer for self carbonation and use your keg/cartridge to just maintain carbonation.
2. Make very sure you don't have a leak around the seal. Even a tiny one will quickly drain your cartridge.
Will this work with a 60psi regulator intended for 16 gram threaded co2 cartridges?
Mike V on Jul 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It should but I have not dealt with the smaller threaded CO2 cartridges. The regulator would work if the cartridge fits.
Are these the 5/8" threaded cartridges referred to for the mini-regulator?
A shopper on Mar 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: yes, the only thing they fit..
What type of regulator would be required for these and are they refillable?
W A on Jul 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The mini CO2 regulatoris required, and the tanks are not refillable.
