NB Artisanal Mead Kits. Based on Ames Farm's amazing honey, these are simple, uncluttered traditional meads designed to let the honey shine through. Because the floral sources and composition of Ames Farm honey will change with the season and years, and are dependent on variables like hive placement and weather, every batch of these kits will be unique.

Each recipe is available in two sizes - three gallon or five gallon.

They were very good about informing me of the delay and the product was of high quality.

Great kit
The honey is absolutely delicious. Some honey found its way onto the instructions and nutrient packets but not enough to cause any problems. NB has instructions posted on the site. Im very happy with my purchase.

Let it age
I made this about a year and a half ago- after a couple months in the bottle I tried it and thought "ehh, it's OK". Truthfully I had nothing to compare it with, never having had mead before. I set the rest of the bottles aside and sort of forgot about it. About a month ago I came across the bottles, cooled one down and tried it. AMAZING! Nicely effervescent- a great summer day ender! You won't be disappointed!

Gotta Let It Age
This mead seems to start off slow after being bottled...slow, but steady. I've had mine in the bottle about 8 months now and the flavor profile does nothing but improve with time. It's not really ready to drink until about 4-5 months old...but if you can wait a year, you should have a great-tasting mead.

good
I had never had mead before, but the people I gave this to said it tasted like the stuff you get at Ren Fest. I have a few bottles left that I'm going to age a bit to see if it improves. Right now it has a bit of a musty taste to it, but it is overall good...and strong!

New brewer, but instructions left me with a 'stuck' fermentation
This is my first mead, so I followed the instructions precisely. After a week, there was no activity in the airlock and a gravity reading confirmed no fermentation was taking place. I took two steps to get things rocking:1) Aerated the must ( shook the carboy )2) Got more yeast, made a starter.Did those two things, fermentation is off and running. Figured I'd post for any other mead noobs like myself.

Is the honey provided considered to be "raw" honey or has it been pasteurized? I have an highly allergic partner who won't drink the product unless I can assure them of it being raw. You guys are the best ! Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: The Ame's Farm honey is raw and not pasteurized but I would suggest using caution with any allergy.
Unsure about what exactly comes in the kit. Will it include everything needed to brew a batch including ingredients?
S H on Nov 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There is no equipment included in the kit, only the ingredients. You need a fermentation vessel, like a carboy or fermentation bucket that you can seal and install an airlock on. I would also recommend a funnel to catch the honey as you pour it out of the container it comes in. Overall, you barely need any equipment to make this Mead, so it is much easier than brewing beer. This Mead kit turns out great with no additional additives such as fruit or flavorings that some people add. Keep in mind that it takes approximately 3 months to finish fermenting, and you will need bottling equipment like a siphon and bottling bucket once the Mead is ready.
