The first-ever universal lid for Big Mouth Bubbler® fermentors. Engineered by brewers to suit any fermentor in the Big Mouth Bubbler® family, from EVO 2 and Plastic to first-generation glass and even the Little Big Mouth Bubbler®.

The Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid is just like a traditional carboy bung, only bigger! Just as easy to sanitize and set in place too. Ribbed silicone rings ensure a positive seal to keep out pests, while the non-threaded design allows the lid to move preventing an out-of-control fermentation from dangerously pressurizing your fermentor.

Dual Port design allows for the ability to continuously monitor temperature with a thermowell/temperature probe why still having an airlock in place to release CO2.

Available in single- and dual-port configurations. Dual-port gives you the ability to constantly monitor temperature through one port while allowing CO2 to escape through the second port.

    Gotta flip the silicone ring!
I got a BMB to do my fermentations and was getting frustrated with the lid popping off. Had to tape it down to stay secure. That is, until I called NB support line and they told me to flip the silicone ring upside down! Man, this thing seals like a beast now, even with starsan all over the neck. Highly recommended.

    Pretty Good
I like the ease and speed of bottling my wide mouth carboys but I need to keep an eye on them because some fermentations generate enough CO2 to dislodge the lid.

    Too large
It is to large for the Big Mouth Bubbler, and had to be weighted in order to not pop off/out.

    Kory,

Thank you for your review. At this time weighing down the lid is the best way to ensure it doesn't pop off. We had a customer that used bungie cords to hold it in. I have also myself turned the gasket upside down on the lid to help give it more grip.

    Cheers!

    Works Okay
This lid works as well as the one that comes with the BMB (in that it doesn't seal and will pop off. I used a bungee cord attached to the carboy carrier to hold it down.

Doesn't fit original glass Big Mouth Bubbler well
Requires quite a bit of force to fit it in the mouth of an original 5g glass Big Mouth Bubbler, and it pops back out within seconds, even with some moderate weights on it.

There is some variation in the opening of these hand formed glass items. Have you tried ensuring the gaskets has air dried before use? Most sanitizers calls for that in their directions. Customer service will contact you to see if we can help!

    Will not seal
After my frustrations with the regular lid for my Glass BMB, I thought this was the answer. Alas, it is WORSE. This lid seals worse that the screw on lid, which did not seal. I have the fermentation pushing this lid up, and yeast running down the side. IF there was a screw on lid, like a canning jar ring to hold this down, it MIGHT work. but friction is NOT keeping the lid in place.

    Way too big!
The lid itself is too big to fit into the top of the glass fermentor, let alone adding the silicone gasket to it. This is by far much worse then the terribly fitting and under threaded original lids. At least the old lids I could keep trying to re-seat it until it sealed, the new lid has no chance of ever sealing.

    Terrible Lid
Does not work. At all. Have to duct tape the lids down.. I can't believe Big Mouth could make an even worse lid after their first terrible lid design. DO NOT BUY

    Won't stay sealed
I bought this and a single port lid. Both won't stay down and pop up all the time. I've tried multiple solutions including drying the lid and reversing the silicone. Bottom line is this doesn't work. Save your money and wait for a new version.

    Does not fit properly
After messing with it for about 15 minutes I finally got it to seal, I think. Sort of. The gasket is to big and it bunches up preventing the lid from securing. This makes me appreciate my good ol, fashion plastic bucket.

Will this work with the Big Mouth Glass Bubbler?
    B R on Jan 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Read the reviews and you get a different story from the answers here. I have an original big mouth glass bubbler(6.5 gallon) and this lid is completely useless. It immediately pops off with any pressure or slight moisture, and even when I can get it to stay I have zero confidence that it will still be on when I wake up in the morning.

I tried flipping the silicone ring and contacting customer support, and ultimately got this:
"Sadly the opening on the V1 you have may not be willing to accept the lid due to its width".
And got my order refunded. Luckily I still had my original BMB lid and screwed that on, albeit without a dual port :(

I guess if you're okay with strapping it down, or weighting it somehow it technically can work, but what's the point of buying a lid when you need to come up with your own way to hold it on?
will the hole/s fit a blow off hose?
    A shopper on May 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 1" ID blow off hose should fit the openings, without a stopper. The piece of 1" hose I received was a little small in diameter, so it wouldn't make a seal with the lid. I heated about 3" of the end of the hose with a heat gun (hot water would also work) and stretched it over a wooden dowel. When it cooled it held the new shape. It seals well when stuffed into the lid hole.
Just want to make sure I know before I buy one... How wide are the ports? Do stoppers plug into the ports, or do I insert the airlock / temp probe directly into the lid?
    P E on Jul 18, 2016
    BEST ANSWER: Pete,

Thank you for your question. You will want either the 6.5 rubber stoppers or the small universal stoppers for the holes in this lid.

    Cheers!
Would this also work with the Little BMB ?
    John A on Apr 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these lids will also work with the Little Big Mouth Bubblers.
I'm looking for something to hold down my ferments, ie saurkraut, while letting the brine stay above the kraut and allow gas to escape through an air lock. Would this be suitable?
    M S on Jun 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it would not. You want some type of weight or follower that fits tightly to keep the cabbage below the liquid level, usually a plate. Cheers!
