Product Details
When the party is over, Big Mouth™ completely disassembles to fit in a dishwasher. Effortlessly clean every nook and cranny.

Modularity means more than just a cleaner, more sanitary keg. It’s expandable. Start with the mini-keg for small batches or quickly kegging and carbonating a partial batch. Pop in the optional 5 gallon expansion pack (sold separately) when you’re ready for bigger brew days, and collapse back to 1 gallon for keeping it in your fridge or party-ready portability.

Equipped with a revolutionary access port for easy flavor additions. Hang a hop bag or oak spiral from the included hook to customize any batch. Plus, the smaller port means easier sealing and less chance of oxidation.

Collapse it. Clean it. Customize it. The Big Mouth™ Modular Keg is designed for sharing premium homebrew at its prime, from the first batch to the five-hundredth.

Also sold as a 5-gallon Keg.

Great purchase for specialty uses
High Quality unit, the smaller size allows me to experiment with different brews and levels of carbonation. Northern Brewer has been excellent to work with. Have not purchased the expansion kit yet, but does make for a great option in the future.

Neat toy, but gas and pour post reversed
went to use it for the first time and when I hooked of the gas line I heard bubbles, I learned they had the post reversed, so check before kegingOverall, very nice keg, great for the park or showing up to watch a game with your own keg, out does everyone else......

is the keg suitable for use in place of bottling for all beer types?
S T on Dec 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is like a regular keg, no difference.
Does this keg have NSF certification? What is the Maximum PSI it is rated for?
T E on Dec 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The keg is food grade 304SS but has not been NSF certified. It is rate for 40 PSI.
Being new to home brewing and having only used bottles, does this keg come with everything that I need or is there anything I will need to purchase in addition to the keg (lines, nozzle, co2 etc.)?
Jason H on Jul 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The keg is everything you need really to store the beer. But you do also need tools for serving/dispensing, most prefer to use external CO2 to carbonate as opposed to adding sugar, and the keg needs to be able to be stored cold so most need a spare fridge. You can refr to our kegging systems, but you would need a co2 tank, a co2 regulator, and the liquid and gas lines.
Will the Draft Brewer Snap Tap fit on this keg?
W I on May 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It most definitely will!
Some beer kits come in 2 gallon capacity making kegging an issue. Does this keg have an expansion that takes it to 2 gallons? This would be a great size!
JOHN G on Mar 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, not at this time. It is used as a one-gallon, or it's expanded to the 5-gallon size. A person can keg 2 gallons in a 5 gallon keg, but it does waste some CO2 to do so. Other than that, it's fine to do. -Mike W, Northern Brewer
I just received the keg with expansion. When I am ready to transfer the beer to the keg, what do you recommend I do for priming? Do I even need to prime?

Also, how long should I condition the beer in the keg before tasting?
B P on Jan 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If you plan to "force-carbonate" the beer, you do not need to prime at all. If you want to naturally carbonate in the keg, add 3 oz of corn sugar, and leave the keg at room temp for a week or two, and check the carbonation level. Once beer is kegged up, and properly carbonated, you don't have to wait any, unless you want to. That's one of the great things about kegging vs. bottling! -Mike W, Northern Brewer
Does this have a port for the US sankey coupler?
R E on Jan 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Bob,

No, this keg has ball-lock posts, so you'd need to convert your couplers if you have a sankey set-up.

Cheers!

Can I put this in a kegarator?
D I on Jan 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Di,

Sure, as long as you have ball lock fittings, it should be no problem!

$149.99 for a 1 gallon keg?
Mark R on Nov 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Mark

I know $149.99 may seem like a lot for this volume. These are really great and highly versatile kegs though. We've been entirely impressed with them and I think they've got a lot of future potential as well. The price is entirely appropriate to the quality and construction.

If you have any questions about them feel free to shoot us an email or give us a call!

Are they stack-able?
P H on Nov 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They are not designed to be stacked. If a disconnect is attached it would get in the way. The bottom and top have the same diameter so they could be stacked for storage. Not a very sturdy stack. But when in use they should not be stacked. Cheers! James J.
