Our Better Basic Starter Kit includes a clear six gallon carboy (your choice of glass or plastic) instead of a bucket. This lets you observe in great detail every phase of your beer's fermentation, at the same time taking a lot of guesswork out of the process.

Glass carboys have been a staple piece of equipment amongst homebrewers for decades - they are easy to sanitize and will last a lifetime (barring mishaps). Many brewers prefer high-quality PET plastic carboys because they are very light and won't break if dropped.

In addition to the same siphoning, bottling and cleaning equipment that comes with the Basic Kit, the Better Basic Kit includes some extra gadgets to effectively ferment beer in a carboy. The Better Basic Kit is also designed for single-stage fermentations, but one of the best things about this kit is its expandability — just add a five gallon carboy at any time to upgrade to two-stage fermentations.

Note: This starter kit is designed to work with our extract ale kits, brewing lagers or all-grain will require additional equipment.
