Product details

We are proud to carry products from Briess Malt and Ingredient Co, in Chilton Wisconsin. Briess' roasted barley is made from unmalted barley, which makes it different from chocolate and black malts. It has the intense dry and bitter roast flavor characteristic of roasted barley, but it is roasted slightly less than its English counterparts to bring out more of the coffee like flavors.
Use it to obtain the distinctive flavor of dry stout, or in any dark beer for added color and a roasty edge. 300°L

Flavor & Color Contributions:

  • Malt Style: Roasted Barley (unmalted)
  • Flavor: Coffee, intense bitter, dry
  • Color: Deep brown

Just what the Brewer ordered

Needed some Briess Light Roasted Barley for brewing a Ferocious IPA. Always my go to location for ingredients, Northern Brewer had it in stoke and it shipped promptly.

Not so light roasted

I was expecting a much lighter roast, the bitterness that came out in the finished product was more like a dark dünkle than an amber that I was hoping for.
