Bursting with pear flavor from the very first sip and deliciously easy to drink, Pear cider is a perfect companion for any day or evening event. Festive and light, the notes of ripe pear are complemented by a soft body and crisp finish.

A refreshing, spritzy alternative to beer—mouthwatering cider with a boozy twist is naturally gluten-free and lacks the bitterness of ale.

Striking a balance between scrumptiously sweet and tartly dry, hard cider carries an easy-drinking 5-7% alcohol content.

Served lightly carbonated, cider pairs exceptionally well with food. Fresh cheese, leafy greens, seafood morsels and anything slow-cooked, smoked or barbecued will perfectly complement the boozy apple nectar of fall.

Cider House Select™ Pear Cider is a crisp beverage enjoyed by beer and wine lovers alike.

Pear it down to a extract brew.
Simple to do. Easy to drink. Fruits good for you, correct? I try to drink 8 glasses a day like the doctor orderd.

Good, simple way to make a cider
This is probably the most simple way to make a cider. The kit comes with everything you need (with the exception of the 2lbs of corn sugar), in a top pocket, inside the bag. The main bottom consists of the concentrated apple base, then it comes with an unfermentable sweetener, a pear (or whatever flavor you get) flavor packet, yeast with added yeast nutrient.A few things I didn't like, #1 you have to remember to get 2lbs of corn sugar, and #2 it's a 6 gallon recipe. Both not huge deals, but I took a star away.I brewed it as a 5 gallon batch, since I was going to force carb in a 5 gallon corny keg. I also added 3lbs of corn sugar, added the whole packet of sweetener and after the fermentation, the whole flavor packet.I re-hydrated the dry yeast, and oxygenated the cider.I fermented for about a week and a half in primary, another week in secondary, then poured in flavor packet and put in keg to cool, then force carbed. I'm guessing the ABV is around 6-6.5%. When it was young it was a little too sweet and too peary. After it sat in the keg carbing for a week or so, it's much better. All in all, 5 gallons of pear apple cider for $40 (on other site), is a pretty good deal and good quality cider.

Can this cider kit be brewed in a 6.5 gallon Big Mouth Bubbler? The recipe says it makes 6 gallons but I want to avoid the risk of messy blow-off. I'm new to cider making.

BEST ANSWER: I ferment them in 6.5's. They don't krausen like a beer.
How long before cider is ready to drink?
A shopper on Mar 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not really long at all. I can't remember exactly but I think I had kegged it within a few weeks and man I have to say it is damn good. It will get gone quick I have a recording studio and band and everybody who came over here was asking for it. I also bottled some of it and it was as good or better than kegged but kegged once it was carbonated was delish. If you like cider and I do you will like this but it is fresher tasting and lighter in taste than apple cider so people who don't like apple necessarily will actually like this.
Been brewing beer and want to try a cider kit but do not see instructions. Are cider instructions somewhere on this web site?
J C on May 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Brewing this cider is so easy. The instructions are on the back of the kit and all necessary ingredients are included inside a pouch in the kit. You use the exact same brewing equipment as you would for 5g batch of beer. I had some issues with this kit carbonating in my keg and required a longer than usual high pressure carbonation time but the bottles I made were pretty good I would suggest the fermenters favorite bottling drops. The entire brewing process took about 30 min and it requires a 1-2 week fermentation process. Overall this is a great and extremely easy kit to brew and produces a good final product.

P.S. I would suggest not using the entire sweetener packet if you do it will come out overly sweet to come out like a ACE hard cider or Strongbow sweetness use about half the sweetener pack.
Can I brew this cider in a 6.5 big mouth bubbler? I am purchasing the "deluxe starter kit" but want to avoid the messy blow-off since this is a 6 gallon recipe.
