From the Abbey brew Team:
In our second update regarding the Abbey brewing project, graciously supported by Northern Brewer and Blichmann Engineering, we got another chance to serve our beer to a crowd of eager beer enthusiasts:
Recently the Daylesford Abbey hosted a beef and beer fundraiser. Once again, we had the opportunity to present our abbey ales. We chose the Abbot’s Reserve and a Saison for the occasion, both based on Northern Brewer’s recipes. This was our biggest event to date and we were excited about being the “beer” in the beef and beer event.
We started the event with 2 kegs of each style and tulip glasses emblazoned with the abbey’s fleur de lis crest and Daylesford Abbey printed in blue on each glass. We also set up an information area with sample grains and hops from Northern Brewer and equipment from Blichmann Engineering. Over 130 guests arrived and made a beeline to the beer.
We also invited special guests to the event. One is the local owner of a Belgium beer bar and restaurant. He just returned from an abbey tour of several Belgium breweries in Europe. The other special guest is a local person who is involved with a relatively new microbrewery. Our plan was to introduce them to the Abbot and our beer. We hope to use them both on a business advisory committee to help determine our next steps. Mission accomplished.
We once again received a lot of positive feedback from the beef and beer participants and the appreciation of the Abbot. We will be brewing again this weekend for the next Abbey event!
Everyone is thankful for Northern Brewer and Blichmann and momentum locally is beginning to build for more beer…stay tuned.
