A different perspective.
I have to say after reading some of the previous reviews, I was hesitant to try this flavor. My kids and I love Cream Soda and thought it would be fun to make together. I did modify the recipe a little bit, and really came out with a nice product. I made a 4 gallon batch, and put in a 5 gallon keg and placed in my kegerator along side all my other "Daddy Beer", as the kids like to call it. I set the Co2 @ 30 PSI for about 3 days, and backed off to around 8-10 PSI after conditioning. Using this method does not obviously require any yeast. I basically followed the instructions provided using the following ingredients: - 6 cups white sugar. (Wal-Mart brand)- 2 cups brown sugar. (Wal-Mart brand)- 2 tablespoons homemade pure vanilla extract. - Cream soda extract.That's it. We did not experience any of the plastic/ artificial off flavors others were describing? I have to wonder if the yeasts used caused the off flavors others were experiencing? Anyways, It was a hit over the father's day weekend with all the kids and adults alike. We will definitely make again, and look forward to trying some other soda flavors in the future.

Things I tried
Based upon the previous two reviews I made some changes:1) used 2 oz of extract for 3 gal corny since flavor seemed to be an issue2) used 4 cups raw turnbinado sugar3) used 2 cups honey4) added 2T home made vanilla extractWill check back in with the results.

Very disappointed
Had a big time planned for me and my 3 year old to make "kid beer". We had a good time making it but he won't even drink it now and he's not picky when it comes to drinks. I made 3 gallons instead of the recommended 4 gallons but it still tastes very weak. It also has an aftertaste...kind of medicinal but hard to describe. I wish our first soda experience had turned out better. At least we had a good time together while we were making it.

Not bad/not great
This was the first soda that I have ever made with mixed results.The recipe calls for 8 cupsof sugar, I put in 6 and it was still too sweet. Next time I think that I would try 4 cups. (If it were the same proportion)I used 4 gallons of water as per the recipe and this resulted in a mild taste.If I make this again, it would be 3 cups of sugar, 3 gallons of water and 1 full bottle. My wife insists that it still has a medicinal after taste, one child does not like it and the other one will drink anything as long as it is sweet. Me-> I would prefer a beer.......

Not a good representation of the style
1) shouldn't have used honey, competes with the vanilla creme flavor2) I agree with the "medicinal" comment from the other reviewer - I would compare it to chewing on an old plastic Band-Aid.
Sad Day
I made a half-batch of this, being sure to measure out my water and sugar really carefully. I used 2 gallons of water and 3 3/4 cups of sugar, but somehow it still managed to turn out really sweet but also very bland. There just isn't any of the rich, creamy taste that I associate with good cream soda. This tasted more like watered down cream soda with lots of extra sugar.I also had the same problem as the other reviewers. There was a weird medicinal, stale-candy sort of aftertaste. Definitely won't be making this one again.
