Saison Extract Kit

A pre-modern Belgian style that was made in household breweries during spring. Saisons are brewed hoppy and fairly strong in order to keep through the summer, but this kit is great at any time of year. A solid malt bill and a small addition of sweet caramel malt provide the basic structure and three additions of hops give the beer a bracing bitterness and floral overtones. Wyeast Belgian Ardennes yeast brings it to life with striking spicy, peppery and earthy tartness. Serve in a wide-mouthed glass at cellar temperature to appreciate this kit's full flavor.

  • 0.5 lbs. Briess Caramel 20

Fermentables

  • 6.3 lbs. Golden Light Malt Syrup
  • 1 lbs. Gold Dry Malt Extract

Boil Additions

  • 2 oz. Argentina Cascade (60 min)
  • 1 oz. Argentina Cascade (15 min)

If you choose dry yeast

  • Brewferm Blanche. Optimum temperature: 64-73° F.

If you choose liquid yeast

  • Wyeast #3522 Belgian Ardennes Yeast. Optimum temperature: 65-85° F.

All kits also contain a muslin mesh bag for steeping the grains (if required).
