Honey Brown Ale Extract Kit

What would happen if you augmented the slightly dry, caramelly and roasty character of a smooth, mellow English brown ale with the sweet floral flavor of clover honey? What if you added the honey at the very last possible minute to maximize its presence in the finished beer? What if it was delicious? This recipe is a spinoff of our highly popular Nut Brown Ale kit that combines American malts and ale yeast with English hops and Minnesota honey. A well-balanced and intensely drinkable beer, good for enjoying in both warm and cool weather.

Specialty Grains

  • 0.25 lbs. Simpson's Chocolate
  • 0.25 lbs. Dingemans Special B
  • 0.25 lbs. Dingemans Biscuit
  • 0.25 lbs. Briess Special Roast

Fermentables

  • 6 lbs. Gold Malt Syrup

Boil Additions

  • 1 oz. Challenger (60 min)
  • 1 lb. Honey (0 min)

If you choose dry yeast

  • Safbrew S-33. Optimum temperature: 59-75° F.

If you choose liquid yeast

  • Wyeast #1056 . Optimum temperature: ° F.

All kits also contain a muslin mesh bag for steeping the grains (if required).
