do you have to grind them to use them ?

BEST ANSWER: I used the flaked maize for a wine-making recipe, as an ingredient to simulate the taste of raspberry brandy. The recipe did not say to grind it. This is just my opinion but I suspect that the flaked texture of the maize provides sufficient surface area for it to interact.
What is the extract potential of flaked corn?

Can flaked grains (rice, corn, etc.) be stored like whole malted grain? Its my understanding that crushing the grain diminishes the shelf life but I am unsure about flaked grains.

BEST ANSWER: Flaked grains last much longer and since they are never crushed you can treat them just like whole grains. Best used within one year of ordering. Cheers!
