Product details

Distinct undertones of Saison funk, exotic notes of verbena and candied ginger evolve into a firestorm of complex, earthy spice. Bursts of citrus peel collide with wild lemongrass and peppery florals in a tumultuous surge of flavor.

Alight with lemony herbals of Sorachi Ace hops, the sweet caramelly malt profile offers a pleasant mouthfeel that develops lingering, gingery warmth. Highly carbonated and generously hopped, Ginger Snap finishes dry-yet-smooth with a quenching bite for superb, refreshing drinkability.

Hazy and straw-colored with a brilliant white head, a snap of citrus and candied ginger evolve into complex, earthy spice. Exotic notes of ginger root on the nose complement undertones of distinctive Saison funk.

Fruity, spicy yeast supports a subtly sweet malt profile. The mouthfeel is rich and complex, ending with a pepper spice and a touch of clove. Warming ginger lingers in the background with peppery Sorachi Ace hops up front.

Highly carbonated and generously hopped, Ginger Snap finishes dry yet smooth with a quenching acidity for superb, refreshing drinkability.

Ginger Snap not as Snappy as expected

While the Saison beer tasted just fine, I wish I would have made it a little “snappier”. Still enjoyable however.

Light ginger flavor...but still good!

This is the second time I have made this beer. First time was extract. Even though the ginger flavor isn't as strong as I would like, the overall flavor is still very good. Next time I will adjust to increase the ginger flavor, maybe leave the ginger candy in thru secondary as another reviewer says.

This works! (with a slight change)

I read a bunch of negative comments about the flavor. Many said it lacked that "ginger" bite/flavor. So when I made it I left a few slices of the ginger (from the boil) in the primary fermenter. When I pulled it out after the usual 2 weeks it had a nice ginger flavor on the front and back end - without being a "punch you in the face" flavor (like a Moscow Mule or something).*I recommend this if you like ginger, and consider my tip - or just putting a few pieces of candied ginger in a secondary fermenter. My only complaint is that I couldn't get it to taste like the cookie... but I am going to work on that next time.

Not good

Followed all directions, and the beers flavor was not ginger like at all. Nor was it an enjoyable flavor. Do not buy this beer kit.

No tickle on the nose

This beer probably deserves a 4 or 5 if what you are looking for is a ginger snap cookie since you are using candied ginger. I doubled down on the candied ginger hoping for more oomph. I go oomph, but not ginger and no nose tickle. For that, one probably needs real grated ginger in the boil. Just guessing... Anyway, it wasn't what I was expecting, but with half a lime squeezed in, it tastes just like a Mule, so all is not lost. Won't make my rotation list though.
