What is your favorite brewing topic to talk to customers about?

Recipe formulation and advanced brewing techniques like step mashes, decoctions, water chemistry, and so on…

What was your biggest brewing blunder?

Mixing up some yeast starters and accidentally pitching a Hefeweizen strain into an Imperial Stout wort. It was gross. Really gross.

What movie have you watched the most times?

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

What was your proudest moment in your fermentation history?  

That first time I managed to brew a nice clean, crisp light lager with no detectable fermentation flaws.

Why do you brew?  

Why do some people not brew??? Hosers.

When did you start brewing?

August 2007.

What is your brewing system?

A three vessel 20 gallon direct-fire RIMS system.

What is your favorite style of beer for drinking and for brewing?

I would have to say an American Pale Ale – it is such a versatile style that is never out of place in any season or with any meal.

If you could share a beer with anyone throughout history, of even fictional, who would it be?

Nikola Tesla. He is arguably one of the most important inventors to ever live, yet he is obscured by history.

Where do you spend your non-brewing time?

Fishing, bowling, circuitry and coding, visiting local breweries.

Who are your three favorite musicians/bands?

Tool, Radiohead, Aphex Twin.
