What is your favorite brewing topic to talk to customers about? Yeast strains and hop varieties
What was your biggest brewing blunder? The summer that a friend graciously allowed me to ferment a beer in her nice, cool basement storage closet because my little apartment was too warm, and the yeast was so happy that the fermentor beersploded all over her camping gear. I never did find my airlock…
What movie have you watched the most times? Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
What was your proudest moment in your fermentation history? Winning the Nordeast Big Brew Day Pro/Am competition in Minneapolis and having my winning entry commercially brewed for the Great American Beer Festival.
Why do you brew? I enjoy the recipe development and brewing process almost more than I enjoy drinking the beer. Almost.
When did you start brewing? In a musty church basement in March of 2009.
What is your brewing system? A Blichmann TopTier.
What is your favorite style of beer for drinking and for brewing? My favorite beer for drinking is, of course, the one that’s in front of me. But I enjoy brewing German-style lagers. I love the decoction process, and the long, slow fermentation that gives you deliciously clean and delicate lager beers.
If you could share a beer with anyone throughout history, of even fictional, who would it be? Nah. Give me a beer among friends, old or new.
Where do you spend your non-brewing time? With my wife, Joanna, and my 5-year-old daughter, Kyla.
