The 8-gallon MegaPot 1.2™ is ideal for performing a full wort boil on any 5 gallon batch. A full boil helps to improve hop utilization and avoid caramelizing the malt extract. This homebrew kettle is a great upgrade for any extract brewer, but will work for 5 gallon All-Grain boils as well. While it can work as an All-Grain mash tun using the Universal False Bottom, the smaller size will limit your grain bill to lower gravity beers.

Ideal for: boiling no more than 5-6 gallons of wort. Smaller partial mash or Brew-In-A-Bag systems.

MegaPot 1.2™ is a stainless steel masterpiece, not just another stainless steel stock pot. Every detail has been thought through to enhance the homebrewing experience. The heart of the kettle is a 4mm thick Tri-Clad bottom- made specifically for even heat distribution. Graduated volume markings inside the kettle allow for easy volume measurements during the boil. The 1.2 proportion of MegaPot has been scientifically designed to promote a vigorous boil and reduce off-flavors making it the ultimate home brew kettle.

You may also need: The 11.5" Universal False Bottom

Also available with weldless ball-valve and thermometer.

Great Brew Kettle!
I bought this kettle about 6 months ago so I could step into the world of all-grain brewing and full-volume boils. It came well-packaged (as always) from NB and after picking it up the first time, I knew I had made a good investment. This kettle is a TANK. The handles are comfortable to grip with strong, solid welds. The tri-clad bottom would stop a bullet and definitely helps get the wort boiling quickly. I've brewed 5 batches so far and this kettle cleans up in minutes and has yet to sustain any scratches, stains, burns, or scalding at all. It looks as good today as the day I got it. The lid is as solid as the kettle and fits snuggly to help the boil underway. The handle stays cool and I don't even need an oven mitt to take the lid on and off. The kettle also cools relatively quickly. Once I pour the wort into the fermenter, I can start cleaning it within a few minutes and not have to worry about singing my hands on a hot side. I could not recommend this kettle enough! The only "downside" I've found is no fault of the product, but just my brewing setup. The 8-gallon kettle with 5+ gallons of hot wort in it is HEAVY (50+ lbs) and difficult to tilt & pour smoothly while trying not to spill boiling liquid on yourself. If you're not fairly fit and strong, be sure to have someone who can help you maneuver it when necessary or be prepared to siphon the hot wort to a fermenter or upgrade to the drilled version.

Second one is ok
The first one I rec'd showed signs of blue heat marks after a test boil. But NB replaced it and I did a test boil over the weekend and I'm good to go......time to brew!

MegaPot 1.2 8 Gal. Kettle review
Kettle works great - nice even boil and the gallon markings on the inside of the kettle are very helpful for all grain brewing

Perfect for the extract or partial mash brewer!
This bad boy is really a killer piece of hardware that can last a lifetime. Due to time restraints I'm primarily an extract brewer and this 8 gallon pot makes for the ideal vessel for full volume extract boils with specialty grains (up to 6 to 6.5 gallons) with ample head space remaining. Quality of my beer has been great coming out of this guy and the internal gradations help when the boil ends to ensure I'm around the 5 gallon mark, plus the silicon wrapped handles make for quick and painless boil-over saves. Just the perfect brewers kettle! A must have in my book!

Marvelous
This makes everything easier during wort time. The inside level markings are marvelous when adding water. I use 5 gallon RO water, but then I am or was never sure how much additional water to add to obtain 6 gallons. The inside marking makes this super easy. ( I prefer 6 gallons to start, due to boil off) After transferring the wort, I can easily clean the inside by simply using my hand to rub accumulated debris off the inside. Drying is easy as I use a bottle tower, and simply put the brew kettle on it upside down. The handles make it easy to move, and are well insulated. ( no ouch that is hot comment) The handles are also handy for me to tie off my bags with my hops in them during boil time. Great product.

Must Get This Citizens!
I have been making 5 to 6 gallon batches in my kitchen since 1996 and this is the best investment to date! No boil overs, wort volume at a glance, easy handling and outstanding heat distribution makes for a very pleasant brew day. I tip my glass to the inventor!

Awesome brew pot!
This is by far the best brew pot I have used! It is very well constructed the thick heavy bottom heats evenly without any hot spots. The eight gallon capacity is great to be able to increase the volume of the boil yields a better more consistent brew!

I have about 17.5" of clearance under my microwave. What are the measurements on this kettle vs the 5 gal kettle also sold on the site?
D E on Mar 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The 8 Gallon Megapot is 15.4 inches tall, the 5 gallon kettle is 12.5 inches tall. -Mike W, Northern Brewer
Best I can tell the primary differences between this and the tall boy 8 gal is this has the graduated markings and the rubber handles. Is there anything else I am missing? Is this worth the extra $30, especially seeing how you can pair the tall boy with the deal star for the package discount.
H E on May 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The key feature that separates the Megapot from the TallBoy is that the Megapot has the option to come with a ball valve and thermometer. Depending on your batch volume, a valve may or may not be necessary or convenient. Otherwise they share many similarities.
Is this kettle capable of induction brewing? And which of your kettles are?
S P on Oct 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The megapot and tall boy kettles are induction capable. The edelmetal kettle should be as well. Blichmann kettles are not induction capable.
What are the dimensions of the box into which this is sold and what is the total weight? Thank you.
S J on Aug 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: 15"x15"x19.5" and would weight 19 lbs when shipped
