Truly great wines are always about balance: fruit balanced by structure, sweetness balanced by acidity, lusciousness balanced by length of finish, all of these make for memorable, delicious wine. Winemaker's Trio White is a wine of impeccable balance. The blend of Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscat fold into a perfect pyramid of flavor, fruit and structure.
Pinot Grigio is a pink (not white!) grape derived from Pinot Noir. It has tropical fruit, notes of melon and hints of mango, along with bracing acidity to give firm structure. Sauvignon Blanc brings green grassy notes, along with elderflower and zesty grapefruit and peach. Muscat is the friendliest, most fruit forward grape in the world, with grapey-grape flavours and aromas of citrus, peach and roses.
Together the three make a satisfyingly rounded, fruit-driven wine with a long, glorious finish. As this wine ages, each grape will dominate for different periods, sometimes giving dashes of pink grapefruit from the Sauvignon Blanc, sometimes honeydew melon from the Pinot Gris and at others, grilled pineapple from the Muscat. An excellent foil for spice-driven dishes, try it with Thai food, or pulled pork sandwiches.
