Patterned after some of Belgium's most unique and famous ales, our kit yields a beer that looks innocent in the glass but packs a delicious wallop. The secret is a high percentage of candi sugar, an easily fermentable sugar that ratchets up the beer's strength while keeping the body light and easy to drink. Smooth mouthfeel, sweet, floral maltinesss, and rich spiciness from hops and yeast.
Recommended: 2-stage fermentation and yeast starter.

I have access to milling from a friend. can I buy bulk to make bulk of the Belgian grains and what not and what quantities do you have in un-milled grains that have to be purchased? The Belgian strong has a nice citrus, are there additives that would increase the orange flavoring without over powering? Are there similar receipts that are not quite so strong? I love this receipt but sometimes you like to drink more than a couple and still have sanity?
DaveBest Answer: Thanks for the great questions. We sell the grains by the pound, or at discounted prices in bulk 50 lb sacks.
Here is the 5 gallon grain bill:
The grains can be stored for about 12-18 months before using if uncrushed. Sweet orange peel is a great example, otherwise using the proper amount of yeast is key to those citrus flavors. The patersbier is a low alcohol recipe similar to this, not quite as flavorful but quite delicious.
