Mint chocolate chip is the best ice cream flavor ever, so who says it won't be the best beer flavor ever? Creamy, lightly spicy, and chocolatey; this combo is sure to bring vivacity and luxury to your maltiest dark ales: porter, brown ale, stout, and dark Belgian ales like Dubbel.
Brewing with the Mint Chocolate Chip: Use 2-4 oz. of cacao nibs, ¼ - 1 lb. lactose, and ⅛ - ½ oz. spearmint per 5 gallons. Add lactose and spearmint in the last few minutes of the boil; add cocoa nibs to secondary and allow to steep in the supplied mesh bags for 1-2 weeks. Longer steep times at warmer temperatures will make for more intense chocolate flavors and aromas.
