The Essential kit was a Christmas present this year and I finally got around to brewing up my first batch in February (Caribou Slobber). Enjoyed the experience so much I'm pretty sure I'm hooked and addicted to homebrewing (I already purchased the White House Honey Porter). I've had a few friends ask me about it and I've recommended this kit to them (or the Deluxe if they're feeling more daring). Got my Essential Starter Kit for Christmas with the Caribou Slobber and brewed for the first time in late February. Everything went smoothly! The directions couldn't be any easier to follow and the included video was of great assistance as well. I already have brew number two in house (White House Honey Porter) for a brewing date of next weekend and am also mentally preparing for future brews and what all I will need. (Posted on 4/7/13)

Great starter! Everything you would need. I agree with Richard, I would add a glass carboy, it's fun to actually watch the fermentation process. I disagree with Richard about the bottles. Half the fun in that is buying good beer, drinking it, and recycling the bottles for your own brew! (Posted on 1/21/13)
