Details
Think of this as a British Bitter squared - more malt and more hops equals higher gravity, bigger body, more bitterness, and more intense flavors and aromas. A more complex beer than an "ordinary" low-gravity bitter, an ESB is a showcase for high-quality hops and brewing skill, meant to be enjoyed with consideration rather than merely quaffed. Our kit pours with a rich red color and white head and pronounced aromas of hop and fruit.

- Nice batch! Review by Mike Robroo

This was my first all-grain batch. I was a little worried that I had too much volume after the boil. OG came in a little short (1.049/1.054) but it turned out fine with a lower FG (1.010) than expected (1.016). Nice color and head, tasted great. I was kind of critical of the immediate aftertaste seeming a little watery and out of balance but others couldn't taste that. After a couple of swigs, the aftertaste was not noticeable. 5.1 % ABV. I should note that it still is about 3 days away from being fully conditioned and I've already drank about 20 of them. Would do this one again! (Posted on 4/19/12)Rating - Excellent kit Review by Ed
- First time brewing this one, and first all grain brew. This is a really excellent example of the ESB style, excellent taste and aroma. Another great offering from NB. This one is going on the "staple" list, the challenge will be keeping up with demand. (Posted on 3/10/11)
