Czech Pilsner All-Grain Kit

SKU: U1334

The classic pale lager. Clear, deep golden color, foamy white head, medium-full body with caramelly malt and spicy hop character, firm bitterness giving way to a soft finish. Recommended: 2-stage cold fermentation and yeast starter.

We strongly recommend ordering dry yeast in the summer months. We do include complimentary ice packs with all liquid yeasts. It is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will survive the trip given transit times and particularly hot temperatures.

If we had to pick just one style that embodies everything a beer should be, Czech Pilsner might be it: this lager showcases both malt and hops but allows some expression of yeast character; mellow enough to drink a few half-liters but technical enough to demand care in brewing. Clear, deep golden color, foamy white head, medium-full body with caramelly malt and spicy hop character, firm bitterness giving way to a soft finish. Recommended: 2-stage cold fermentation and yeast starter.

This beer is simply amazing Review by Fender
Taste amazing. I would be able to drink it warm and flat, this is how good it is. After carbonation it is phenomenal. Really robust pilsen malt and hops flavor. Reminds me premium beers i tried in Europe, but better :)

Took me over two months to make it. I didn't have a refrigirator. Ended up keeping fermentro in the brewing kettle. Was adding ice twice a day to keep fermentarion temps around 50-55. D-rested for two days at 68 degrees and than lager it @36-38 degrees. (Posted on 4/21/15)
Pilsner update Review by St Patrick
I fermented this beer at 50 degrees F for two weeks, walk the temp up to 60 for d-rest, transferred to secondary and walked the temp down to 40 degrees F for a month. Bottle condition at room temp for two weeks, than 6 weeks at 35 degrees F. This beer taste phenomenal!! (Posted on 3/28/15)

It was fun to do something different than an ale for a change. Brewed it during the winter months to have it ready for spring. (Posted on 2/26/15)
Awesome!! Review by Mike Robroo
Pilsner Urquell is one of my favorite pilsners and we travelled to the brewery in the Czech Republic some years ago (i lived in Germany for 12 years due to military service). This was my second all grain brew and my first lager). When I placed my order, I asked NB to substitute the yeast for Wyeast 2001 Pilsner Urquell Lager, which they did. This brew nailed it! Used Beersmith to prepare my recipe and hit my target OG and FG. I find myself keeping my nose in the glass because the smell is just like all those pilsners I was served in Germany. The hop and malt balance is great with a hop bite up front and a soft malt finish. Clean and crisp. Spending a Saturday afternoon enjoying some on the deck right now. Will be brewing this one again! 5 stars!! Next up: Bavarian Hefeweizen in primary, Oktoberfest in planning. (Posted on 6/2/12)
Wonderful Review by Mark_NJ
I've been extract brewing for almost 10 years and just finally made the switch over to all grain in the past year or so. This is one of the top 5 best beers I've ever made. It did have a slight chill haze (but I attribute that to operator error). I cant wait to try brewing this again. (Posted on 4/23/11)
great beer Review by Ryan

I would rather drink wino piss than this crap again Review by Paul Allen
Tasted terrible. I waited a month for this and I'm very disappointed. I should have just bought some miller lite with the money I wasted on this stuff. Yuck!!!! (Posted on 12/6/10)
