Anarchy In the UK British-style American IPA Extract Kit

SKU: U0970

Never mind the hops

We’re tearing down the wall and trashing brewing conventions. A tremendous combo of American hops wafts above a sturdy yet clean british malt base. More pungent and aromatic than a british IPA and a wee bit maltier than a west coast IPA, the wonderful balance that’s achieved will make you question the IPA status quo. Blurring the lines between American and UK, East coast and West coast, this delicious IPA refuses to fit neatly into a category.

Details

Bold hops and well balanced malt set this anti-establishment IPA (AIIPA?) apart. The brash bittering of Chinook is finished with a large late addition of 7c’s, Centennial and Ahtanum. A 3 oz dryhop delivers that hopslap in the face that hopheads crave. All this aroma sits on top of a dry british malt base that leans more toward the toasty and biscuity, rather than carmelly. Expect notes of tea and biscuits with a potent punch of pungent, floral and fruity American hops.

Bitter and Malty Review by Randy

Brewed this for a quick turn around beer. This kit does not disappoint with a good bitterness and malt complexity. Would recommend this kit to anyone looking for an easy driking beer that's easy to brew and ready in short order. (Posted on 11/26/14)

This just finished in the bottles, and all I can say is wow! I hit the OG and came out to around 6.5%. The taste is perfect for me, a nice citrus flavor with a nice malty base. Reminds me of some bigger brewery IPAsI think this will be my go-to for an extract IPA (Posted on 4/18/14)
very similar to Steel Toe's Size 7 IPA Review by Jim

This is my first review of a beer from NB, so it must be something special, no?

For years, Dead Ringer has been my "go to" kit for IPAs, but its finally being displaced by Anarchy. What's so great about it? A very nice balance between hops and malt--just enough sweetness in the finish to pull me toward the next sip, but a solid layering of hop bitterness in the aftertaste to make me open the next bottle ASAO. In other words, this 5 gallon batch didn't last very long.

The beer it most reminds me of is Steel Toe's Size 7. Though it's a bit less bitter than Size 7, the flavors of hop and malt are very similar throughout. Side by side, I preferred Anarchy though--a little more subtlety of flavors with a broader range of nuances over the course of a sip. Good stuff. (Posted on 11/13/13)
Love this Beer Review by Douglas

I brewed this up on May 4th for Big Brew Day. I do a full boil so I cut the 60 minute addition to .75 ounce. All went well on Brew Day hit the OG right on. Yeast starter had this thing fermenting in 8 hours and i tried to hold it at 62 degrees. Dry hopped for 7 days. After 4 weeks in bottle this beer is wonderful. Nice malty sweetness up front with a pleasant bitterness. Piney, Resin, citrus! It is all there. (Posted on 8/6/13)

I just drank the first beer from the batch. It is full of wonderful flavors. A little bite but easy to drink. (Posted on 7/5/13)
