Don't be misled by the name; British bitters are actually well-balanced beers, with a moderate amount of bitterness and a blend of floral hop aromas and flavor paired with fruity, sweet character from English malt and yeast. This kit is low in gravity, making it a great session beer. For an extra touch of authenticity, serve at cellar temperature (about 55° F) in Imperial pint glasses.

When I got my first kegs and co2 and whatnot, I knew I needed a beer I could drink quickly to free up the keg for the next one. This one was awesome ! Reminds me of Stones Bitter from the UK, fond memories of my buddy who's dad owned a Pub... etc... A great session beer, nice low ABV and good taste. Not as smooth as many other Bitters, more like a bitter soda, but good. Try it for the price ! (Posted on 6/29/11)Rating - Great Malty Beer Review by Justin

Brewed this one and ran into some major problems from stuck mash, to some rough sparging and over hopped. It turned out great, I only brewed a 3 gallon batch but I wish I would have done the whole 5 gallons because this is one of my favorites so far. I will return for this one again. It's subtle and crisp with a great malt taste at the end. My fiance and all her friends love this beer too. (Posted on 4/19/11)Rating - Very nice Review by Joel_CT

Kegged 5 gallons, trying some of the overflow straight from the conical, with the latent carbonation. Like it very much, thinking of getting a cask for a second batch.Rating
I am going on the high side on the CO2 volume (I think) for a traditional bitter, but still less than 1.5 volumes. Will update post in a week or so.

I brewed 10 gallons of this for a friend by request. He was stationed in the UK in the military. He was very pleased with the beer. He said that it tasted just like the stuff he would get in the UK. I found the beer to be very tasty myself. It's a nice break from some of the higher gravity stuff. I brewed w/ the dry yeast, added 1 lb rapidura sugar and 2 oz fuggles to the secondary. I don't know what the complaints were about, this beer came out awesome for me. Definitely reminded me of a classic British bitter. I mashed at a higher temp -- 155 -- and served it at VERY low carbonation -- 5PSI --, then threw an oz of EKG into the fermentor as a dry hop. AWESOME -- Will brew again. Brewed a 10 gallon batch of this, hoping it would remind me of the great times I have had at pubs in England. However this beer was terrible, it was alcoholic, but tasted like I was drinking old fermented bathwater, I do not recommend this kit at all. (Posted on 6/16/10)Rating
