Product details

The authentic finish for your handcrafted Belgian-style beer! For use with our 750 ml Belgian-style beer bottles or with our 750 ml Green Champagne Bottles. Requires a floor or bench corker for insertion; we have found it helpful to use a drilled #6.5 or 7 stopper as a spacer over the corker plunger to leave about half of the cork outside the bottle lip. Use with hooded wires for Belgian Beers or Champagne Bottles.

Even worse corks!

NB seems to have changed the supplier again. They used to carry REF corks (2011), then they stopped and the corks they carried were sub par. Now I just ordered and got the "Belgian" corks from NB and they don't fit with the hoods! The new corks (2018) have very little to no bevel so the hoods don't seat correctly. Sigh... Northern Brewer, if you're going to sell "Belgian" style corks PLEASE make sure they are the real thing!!!
Getting tired of this...

Corks

My Corks seemed to have deteriorated after time. I have used these several times and not had any issues.

Not a REF cork!

These are not REF corks and don't come out of the bottle by hand. You have to use pliers to get them out even with a super carbonated beer.Northern Brewer, Please get the REF corks back!!!

Waste of Money

Lousy quality. VERY lousy quality. I have 5 gallons of a Belgian Tripel in secondary ready to be bottled and corked in 2 weeks, (which is why I bought these). I tried to do as much research as I could before hand. I read all the horror stories of people having to chip corks out in pieces, use pliers, or cut them off and use a cork screw because of cheap quality. The problem I ran into is try to find someone in the home brew supply industry that knows anything about Belgian corks. One of the LHBS in my area (Phoenix, AZ), tried to tell me that champagne corks were the same thing. Another LHBS told me that the only difference was that Belgian corks come with that mushroom shape on top and champagne corks are straight. So I took a chance and went with Northern Brewer. I did 3 test bottle today - 2 of them the corks ripped just taking them out of the floor corker.

Hi Marc,

Thanks for filling out a review. I'm sorry that you had a poor experience with the Belgian corks. There is a tendency for some of the floor corkers to pull on the corks as they're being released. It appears that this is what caused the damage to your corks. The Italian floor corker is a little more delicate and does not have this problem. I apologize for the inconvenience and frustration. If you'd like to contact us, we would be happy to work on a resolution for you.
