The revolutionary roasters at Peace Coffee travel the world seeking out the finest small-scale coffee farmers, then roast the beans to perfection and deliver them by bicycle all over the Twin Cities. What makes us love them so? Is it their premium organic beans? Their obsessive commitment to quality? The complex flavors and aromas of their coffee?

It was love at first whiff. With roasters and brewers united, we crafted a sturdy stout fortified with a blend of light and dark roast coffees from both hemispheres. Smoky and sweet, but packing a powerful punch and just the right balance of rich malt, berry and bittersweet cocoa. Sure, you could brew with any old cuppa joe. Just like you could drink any old beer. But you’re not here to settle, and neither are we. So give Peace a chance and taste for yourself what all the buzz is about!

Good Beer Review by Smokey

I am an IPA guy but wanted a different beer and this delivered in a nice way. Beer is bitter upfront and balanced afterwards not bad at all. I will say this I wish I brewed in a plastic bucket instead of the glass carboy as getting all the coffee grounds out of the little carboy neck was not a fun task. I did 65 days primary and 7 in secondary kegged and force carbed the beer it was good to go and did not taste "green". (Posted on 8/31/14)

I really enjoyed making this beer and the addition of the Peace Coffee was genius! I suggest patience and let the beer bottle condition at least 8 weeks. I guarantee that it is worth the extra time! (Posted on 8/13/14)

This was my 2nd batch of beer I've made. The coffee flavor isn't over powering. The beer is easy to drink. I can't wait for my friends and family to try this beer. (Posted on 4/10/14)

This was my first go round with this kit but it won't be my last. This is a very drinkable beer. The flavor and aroma are amazing. It's pretty straight forward to brew. I followed the recipe and ended up with a 6.2% abv. If you like coffee stouts then this is worth checking out. (Posted on 4/7/14)
Damn Tasty...but waiting on the head Review by Steven

Very tasty beer. Complex collection of flavors that drinks incredibly smooth. Barely could resist drinking a few pints before bottling, which is ironic since my only complaint is that even after a month of bottle conditioning it pours with very little head. Maybe a mistake on my part - but def worth a brew regardless. Particularly if you plan on kegging it.

On a side note - kudos to the friendly and helpful emailers of northernbrewer.com. It's hard to get such friendly and timely service in person, let alone online, so that was a pleasant surprise. (Posted on 3/25/14)

I have been looking for a coffee or chocolate stout. This has been a great beer with a nice coffee aroma and taste from the beginning of the keg until the end. I just brewed my second batch to get this back on tap. (Posted on 3/15/14)

As smooth and clean a stout that I've brewed. The Peace Coffee adds just the right amount of java flavor. (Posted on 1/18/14)

A friend has been brewing the "peace coffee porter stout" kit for a while. I thought I would give this new version a spin. In a word, sublime...

Great smell. Good kit Review by Jacob

Just finished bottling. It was a very easy kit. I used a filter to make sure the coffee grounds did not enter the bottle from the bottling bucket. It ended with a gravity around 1.025 so it is around a 5.25% beer (Posted on 1/5/14)
Award winning brew Review by Cobiatower

If you like dark chocolate and coffee then you need this beer in your life. I added a few extra things to this recipe but won 2nd recently in a local homebrew comp. I coarsely ground my coffee at the walmarts. I did add a 1lb of lactose during the last 10 minutes of the boil. Once primary fermentation was done (2weeks) I then racked this onto 8oz of cocoa nibs and 2 vanilla beans. I let the brew sit that for two weeks then kegged. DELICIOUS (Posted on 12/26/13)
Perfect in more ways than one Review by Wayne

Excellent recipe. Aroma out of this world awesome. And the sweet wort tasted so good I could have drank it all even before pitching the yeast. The added bonus was drying the spent grains, grinding them in my burr-style coffee grinder, then making spent grain oatmeal pancakes and a loaf of bread. Mmmmm good. And the stout is still fermenting. Can't wait to drink this one. Will surely brew lots more of this no doubt!! (Posted on 12/24/13)
Perfect blend Review by Craig

This one is not for those seeking a smooth, Guinness-style stout, but is absolutely perfect for those who enjoy more bite to their beer and their coffee. Many of the other stouts can take six weeks to four months, but Peace Coffee offers great taste with a quick turnaround. I plan to make this beer one of my brewing staples. I just hope I can avoid drinking this with my breakfast! (Posted on 12/20/13)

Tasty Beer with a lightness that tastes more of coffee than beer Review by Nata54

This was the 3rd kit that I brewed and I enjoy the taste however the coffee really is the strongest flavor to come through on this one. Smooth but tastes a little watered down. Goes right to your head too. Not sure if its the alcohol or the caffeine but it is an enjoyable brew. (Posted on 11/23/13)

Easy and fun to make as you actually have to grind up provided coffee beans and use them during brewing. Turned out delicious! (Posted on 11/19/13)
Best homebrew I've had Review by Jeremy "Jerfish"

I've been brewing for about 6 years now, but had a 1 year hiatus. Decided to do this kit as an extract setup instead of all-grain. I'm a stout fan, and this likely is the best homebrew I've tasted. The coffee notes are nice and not overpowering, a slight banana/fruity note from the type of yeast, and a roasted goodness from the roasted malt specialty grains. Simply awesome. I'll put it on nitro and brew all-grain next time. (Posted on 10/26/13)

I just brewed this beer and it was a very fun recipe. I did this with a brewing newbie and I think it was a great one to show them. The addition of the coffee grounds was a nice addition. Although the instruction do not call for it, I transferred to a secondary fermentation in order to help clean up the beer. There is more sludge than usual with the coffee grounds. The beer is currently in the secondary and I can't wait to try it!! (Posted on 10/9/13)
