It doesn't matter if you're making extract or all grain, you have to bring the wort down to temperature in order to pitch the yeast, and you have to bring it down quickly so you aren't incorporating any nasty bugs into your beer. Unless you're looking at a small 1-gallon batch that can be put into an ice bath, you're going to want a good wort chiller. No matter if you're just starting out with home-brewing or you've given up commercial brews years ago, a wort chiller is an absolute necessity in the brewing process.

With our immersion wort chiller, we give you the best return on investment. Simply hook up the hose to your tap, place the coil of 3/8" copper tubing into the wart and run the other end to a drain. The cold tap water will quickly feed through the coil, maximizing it's time in the wort to turn out warm water on the other side. Instead of giving all those germs an hour or more to find your tasty wort, chill it down in minutes. No dilution of your wort and no complicated balancing of cold water to concentrated wart. There isn't even any additional mess, you don't need to transfer the wort to a different container or special contraption, just drop the immersion chiller into the brew pot.

The preferred method of sanitation is to make sure it is clean to the eye and then include the copper portion of the unit in the wort during the last 15 minutes of the boil, this will kill any wild yeasts or unsanitary pests that might be introduced. Once it's taken off the boil you can immediately start cooling it off just by hooking up the line and turning on the water.

Our wort chiller is 9.5" in diameter, the coils are 6"-7" tall and 15.5" in total height. The coil is made of 3/8" copper tubing and is 25 feet long to ensure maximum surface area for the hot wort to contact the cold water. The copper ends are connected by a secure clamp to the vinyl hoses. These are easily replaced if punctured or damaged and will help to ensure your chiller a long life. Due to being made from soft copper tubing, the immersion chiller can be slightly deformed during shipping, but is easily bent back into shape with gentle force.

Hello brewers, I bought this wort chiller after reading all the reviews and how important it is to cool the wort quickly. I have made three batches and I can cool the batches in 9 minutes. Great tool to have when brewing. One piece of advice, hang on to the end of the hose when you turn on the water. The chiller is easy to clean and maintain and a must have product. Happy brewing. I used this for my very first brew, it chilled my boiling wort in roughly 8-10 minutes. I would recommend to anyone looking to purchase a wort chiller. (Posted on 1/31/14)
Only had to brew once before buying one Review by Ryan V

How this isn't considered to be an absolute must for a first time brewer I'll never know. I made my first batch of home brew without one in February in upstate NY, and it took HOURS to cool 5 gallons of wort to pitching temp by sticking the pot in a snow bank and covering with ice and snow. Bought one of these and still use it on 10 gallon batches and it will cool to pitch temp in under 30 mins. FYI, one end is a garden hose connection so keep in mind you have to have a way to hook it up. These are a MUST for brewing, don't even bother trying without one. (Posted on 1/24/14)
Time saver Review by Cody

After my second ever batch of beer I purchased the wort chiller and wish I had done it sooner. It's a huge time saver. Before, I was doing the ice baths which would easily take 45 minutes to an hour. Using the chiller it brought the cool down time to 7-9 minutes!. It's a must have for any home brewer. (Posted on 1/20/14)
Quick and Efficient! Review by Dan

I got this wort chiller as a Christmas gift, along with multiple ingredients kits of different styles and sizes. I decided to give this bugger a go after a year of cooling my boiling wort in a sink filled with cold water that would constantly have to be drained and refilled as it warmed up, making the overall cooling process last about an hour.

I used this on Saturday while brewing a Belgian Dark Strong, and it cooled the 3 gallons of wort down to 80 degrees F in just over 10 minutes! It cooled it down so fast that I was able to fire up the kettle again and actually do a double brew day, lasting a total of 4 hours (extract) including sanitation, steeping, boiling, cooling, pitching, and cleanup of two batches.

Can't wait to become a more efficient brewer with this gnarly tool. I love it!

On a side not, I couldn't reuse the water i was filling the sink with as it would just go down the drain. With this i can use the exit hose to fill a sanitizer bucket, or use it to water the plants, or anything. Much more efficient than dumping likely 15 gallons of cooling water down the tubes! Saves time and water. Review by Matt

I haven't tried it on a 5 gallon batch yet, but I'm certain that the usefulness will translate. Let's put it this way:

The first 1-gallon batch I made, I needed to give it three cold water baths over the course of an hour to cool the wort to pitching temperature.

The second 1-gallon batch I made, I siphoned the wort into my fermentation jug and left it outside in the cold winter night for two hours before it reached pitching temperature.

The third 1-gallon batch I made, I tried out my brand new wort chiller and cooled the wort, which was larger than the first batch, in under three minutes using only a gallon of water, which I siphoned into a bucket to make sanitizing solution.

The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is because I've not seen how durable it is over time. (Posted on 1/2/14)

Before I purchased this item I filled the sink with ice to try to get the temp down. That took about 30 minutes and a lot of ice! The first time I used the chiller it dropped it to 100 degrees in no time! Great product wih I would have gotten it sooner! (Posted on 1/1/14)
