- Not a helpful item Review by Dave
-
As lots of others have noted, this isn't a very helpful item. On the occasions I've tried to use them, the wedges themselves have slipped out backwards across my granite counters and out from under the glass carboy.Rating
If they came rubberized, that would be better, or made from a different type of plastic.
I'm really not interested in adding towels, roughness, or making other mods to these; by the time I do that, I could have just used something else. (Posted on 4/30/12) - Better option Review by Berford

Just go to Dollar Store and pick up 2 rubber doorstops for $1.00 >> works much better and don't slip with glass carboys. (Posted on 4/7/12)Rating - Could be good Review by Joe

Same as others. Needs more traction, and just sell them as a pair. (Posted on 3/17/12)Rating - what is everybody talking about? Review by kk

I used this for a long ime. They work great. You do need to make sure that the back edge of the wedge is inside the lip on the bottom of the carboy.Rating
As to glass, I would never use anything but glass except maybe stainless steel. As a plastics molding engineer, I understand just exactly how many chemicals are leaching out of plastics when you use them. (Posted on 3/3/12) - No bueno Review by TW

This was a last second add-on to my cart. Why are they sold individually if you need two?Rating
I wouldn't have purchased the wedge if I'd read the reviews. I completely agree that there are way better options for glass carboys. (Posted on 10/18/11) - unnecessary Review by Laz

Just use a phonebook. (Posted on 5/17/11)Rating - Works good but could be improved Review by Kevin

I mostly use these for my rectangular, plastic mash tun and they work fine with no slipping. I've used them on plastic buckets and plastic carboys with no problems also. Having said that, I'd still like to see them rubberized or maybe just rough up the surface for more traction.Rating
I wouldn't suggest using these with glass carboys...but then I wouldn't recommend using glass carboys either! (Posted on 10/30/10) - Work fine with a towel on the counter Review by Rob

Responding to other reviewers having problems with these. Just put a towel flat on the counter before setting up the wedges and the carboy. The problem is that:Rating
a) The plastic wedges will slide on a slick surface, but more than that:
b) The carboy will slide down the wedge as a ramp
A towel will keep everything in place, and works well - plus, it helps provide a softer surface to rest your carboy on. Lay a towel flat on the counter, then put the wedges on top. (Posted on 9/12/10) - not worth it Review by mg

attempted to use these a number of times, but never with much luck. they do not provide sturdy support for the carboy and have been more of a pain than anything else. (Posted on 8/31/10)Rating - Another ditto Review by Jay

What else can be said...not at all usable on glass. (Posted on 8/9/10)Rating
