Our most popular grain mill! A high quality, precision-machined mill that is easy to set up and use. A consistent, precise crush is vital for making the best beer possible, and The Barley Crusher delivers. This mill comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer and some of the best features on the market: • Solid base fits easily on a standard 6.5 gallon fermenting bucket. • Adjustable rollers with a .015 to .070 range. • Materials that will last a lifetime: 1018 Cold Rolled Steel for the rollers, 6061 Aluminum for the mill body and hopper, tool steel for the axles with oil-impregnated bronze bushings. • 5-inch rollers have a 12 TPI knurl that pulls grain through while leaving the hull intact to form an excellent filter bed for sparging. • Large hopper holds approximately 15 pounds of grain. • Includes a hand-crank but no adapters are needed to use a 3/8 drill motor; using a 3/8 drill motor at 500 RPM gives a throughput of 6 pounds a minute.

fantastic piece of equipment Review by bruguru

I was getting tired of putting up with crushed grain from the internet that is not crushed, or LHBS that turn your grain into powder. I have this dialed in now, and get the perfect crush every time. my effciency is now a constant 80-85%, and my beers clear beautifully. (Posted on 7/2/11)
Decent Mill Review by Brandon
I've only milled about 120 pounds so far, but I have no complaints. Works well with the hand crank or the drill. The hopper isn't anything that will wow you as far as craftmanship is concerned... but it works. (Posted on 6/2/11)
Works great so far Review by brent

I got this for Christmas and haved used it for about 4 brews. I started with hand milling then just used my old drill to run it. Works great. Anyone that says it doesnt work right or wasnt put together correctly probably got the unlucky one. I love having this because now I can order large amounts of grain in advanced. (Posted on 3/9/11)
Good crush every time Review by Dan

I have been using this mill for two years, it has worked just as good as the day I received it! It crushes the hulls just enough to extract the sugars, I would recommend it to any homebrewer, CHEERS! (Posted on 2/24/11)
Works great Review by Aaron

Very easy to adjust roller spacing using a feeler gauge. I easily hand cranked a few lbs for nostalgia, but then switched to the drill. Drill fit on nicely and ground 10lbs in no time. Easy to clean, the base fits nicely over a bucket. Also, the whole thing can be removed from the base and attached to a permanent stand if required. Nice craftsmanship and a good conversations piece for the neighbors. (Posted on 2/7/11)
Drill didn't Work Review by Jeff

Purchased this because a drill could be used. Was excited to be able to hook up a 3/8 drill and not have to hand crank. The drill did not turn the crank even made sure it was attached correctly---several times-- still would not work. A big disappointment! Will be buying one that is not a hand crank. (Posted on 1/8/11)

I bought mine severl months ago and I have done 6 batches or so and I am impressed. Great crush out of the box, I use a drill everytime and it is done in a couple of minutes. I called Barley Crusher with a question and I they answered the phone and helped me out, good customer service. (Posted on 11/2/10)
Poorly Made Review by Adam

I received my Barely Crusher yesterday and I am extremely disappointed in its quality.

It has been haphazardly constructed and put together on just about all levels. The hopper has plenty of aluminum dust and burs from the rivets. The padded seams and edge covers aren't even fully attached. There is random crud stuck to the formerly sticky backing--and I estimate they will not last a month before they fall off. The hopper in general has a few stains from something, is scratched and has some dents on it. The cut-out in the base for the mill isn't even cut strait or center. The rounded edges looks as if someone used a Dremel and eye-balled it.

I don't need a fancy looking piece of equipment, but when I pay $150 for something, I expect something that looks more professionally made than I could produce. I don't think it's expecting too much to ask for something to look NEW when you buy it new.

I go very much out of my way to buy products made in the U.S., but when I come across something like this, it is beyond embarrassing. It was packed well, so I can't blame any of the hopper wear on that. This is frankly unacceptable for Northern Brewer to allow this out of their care. I hope for their sake it came strait from the sorry manufacture. It's really of the quality of something you'd sell to employees at a greatly reduced price or as part of a "starch and dent sale".

Needless to say, I will not be recommending this grain mill to anyone or using Northern Brewer again for selling such garbage. Looks like MoreBeer will be getting more of my business now or one of the many growing number of online brewing stores.

I recommend going with another mill--probably the Monster Mill like I came close to buying.

(in all fairness to Northern Brewer, I have not addressed this issue with them personally, but allowing a product of this quality out of their hands says something about their standards) (Posted on 8/28/10)
Spring for the extra hopper capacity Review by Gene Ullery-Smith

The crush is good, but its the hopper capacity that makes this mill sweet. Hook up a good drill, dump in your grains and go to town. Done. (Posted on 5/16/10)
