Stainless five-gallon kettle is ideal for extract brewing - highly recommended for new brewers! The quality stainless steel lasts a lifetime and is safe and non-reactive. The bottom of the kettle has a slight ridge, which can make it less than ideal for an electric stove.

Great Starter Kettle Review by Josh

This kettle is everything you need when first starting to brew. I have brewed a dozen batches on with this kettle on an electric stove and never had any issues. If you are also relegated to brewing on an electric stove, be sure to move the kettle to a different element for extract additions else you run a high risk of extract burning on the bottom. Sure, you could turn off the element, but they take forever to heat back up. I wish the kettle were thicker, had a ball valve and thermometer, but that's what my new MegaPot is for. Now this relatively inexpensive kettle serves as a hot liquor tank for my batch sparging regiment. Great investment. Lives up to expectations. (Posted on 5/7/12)
Brewed 8 Extract Batches Review by J

I am one of the unfortunate home brewers who have an electric stove, but this kettle works great and has for several batches now. The bottom is thin and flexes slightly but does not interfere with contact of the burner. Watch the pot during add-ins and you won’t have a problem with over boil. (Posted on 4/19/12)
It's a kettle Review by Matthew

What else can I say? This thing is a kettle and it is ideal for boiling wort. I can see why you wouldn't want to use it on an electric stove though. (Posted on 11/15/11)
Great for first time brewers Review by Coletrain8882

I have used this pot successfully for brewing. Though when I received it there was a partially ripped off sticker under the sticker that northern brewer had slapped on :D It has worked wonderfully for us and if anyone is complaining they must be using it wrong or are ready for a new pot, hey things don't last forever! Great for first time brewers!! (Posted on 8/20/11)
Great kettle for price Review by JG

I use this kettle on my propane turkey fryer to boil water/wort, have used several times and have had no problems getting and keeping a boil nor has the pot warped, changed color etc. I clean it in my dishwasher also with no problems. The price is great for its size, but would recommend getting a larger pot for boiling as it is very easy to boil over if not careful when adding ingredients. (Posted on 11/8/10)
Excellent pot for the money Review by Stefan

I have used my pot in conjunction with a LP burner for nearly 6 months with absolutely great results. I searched long for a cheaper kettle and just didn't find any. A good buy in my opinion. (Posted on 8/9/10)
Bottom warped, lost full contact with stove Review by konrathink

I've gone through 2 of these on my electric stove and both kettles warped on the bottom. After a batch, maybe from the heat, I could push down on the bottom of the kettle and it would pop back to being warped. I had a hard time maintaining a boil. I actually had to prop the pot up by putting two butter knives under each side so that it came in full contact with the stove and could reach a boil. (Posted on 5/5/10)
Great basic kettle Review by NorCalAngler

The rating has to be subjective based on what the kettle is designed for. It's a great kettle for beginners that serves the purpose of boiling extract size wort. It's extremely thin steel, but it's easy to clean and I have no problem getting a vigorous boil with 4 gallons of wort. (Posted on 5/3/10)
