Our favorite sanitizer! Star San is an acid-based no-rinse sanitizer that is effective and easy to use.
  • Made from food-grade phosphoric acid, safe for people and the environment.
  • Star San is self-foaming, which helps it to penetrate cracks and crevices.
  • Odorless and flavorless, no need to worry about tainting your beer or wine.
  • Does not require rinsing when used at the recommended dilution.
  • Use only 1 oz Star San per 5 gallons of water and just 1 to 2 minutes of contact time.
  • Used as a soaking solution, it can also be applied by hand (wear gloves) or with a spray bottle.
  • Reusable: a solution of Star San will remain effective for up to three to four weeks in a sealed container; it is effective as long as the pH is 3 or lower.
  • It is safe for use on all surfaces, but use caution since it is an acid; contact with soft metals, rubber, and plastic should be kept to a minimum. Star San is environmentally friendly, biodegradable, and will not harm septic systems.

Please note, we cannot ship this product by air.

Haven't had a contaminated batch since I switched to Star San. Even forgot to replace a blowoff tube with an airlock when crash-cooling and had about a liter of this sanitizer mixed into my fermentor with a dunkelweiss. That beer brought home a 1st place medal. Thinking of adding a liter of sanitizer to all my recipes! :-) (Posted on 12/17/13)

Best and easiest sanitizer Review by William

I bought this in the 32oz bottle and it's great. Sanitizes quickly, harmless in the proper dilution and even acts as a yeast nutrient if it happens to get sucked back into your fermenter. It's got an easy measuring system so no need for table spoons and the like. The only tip I have is fill your carboy 75% of the way when sanitizing, then put in your Star san, then fill it up the rest of the way. This sanitizer foams up a lot, which helps it reach up the necks of carboys and things without having to fill them up to max capacity. By filling most way then putting in star san and filling the rest of the way you are ensuring you get the proper (and safe) dilution. If you just dumped the star san in then filled it, the carboy would foam over before you got to put in all the water. With that being said this is the best sanitizer and it's way easier to work with than the LD carlson I used to use since liquid mixes much easier with water than powder does. I recommend. The container allows accurate measuring for a 5-gallon batch, saving the hassle of measuring and dispensing with your own cup. Star San is easy to use and cheap (for what it does for you). And you can pour it on the ground without fear of environmental contamination. (Posted on 12/14/13)
