Our most popular and versatile malt syrup. Northern Brewer Gold is made from pale malt with a small amount of CaraPils, which results in a very light color and excellent head retention capabilities. Provides a well-rounded flavor and full body. The first choice for British and American pale ales, IPAs, and much more. Approximately 4L, 1.036 ppg. Our malt jugs are made from BPA-free plastic. Northern Brewer Malt Syrups are some of the freshest malt extracts you can buy. I have used this may times... it fits the bill for certain brews... nice malt balance and crystal love. It is a great "quick brew extract" when I cannot do an all grain batch. Going extract cuts about 1.5 hours off my brew day. :-) stay thirsty my friends... (Posted on 5/15/12)

A great base malt. The aluminum tab is a pain, no pull tab. So one must cut off the aluminum tab and try to pull the aluminum pieces off the mouth.

Also how was the 6# size selected by NB? This amount will produce 1.048 beer without any more fermentables added. (Posted on 1/1/12)

I've used this in Ambers, Pale ales, Lawnmowers and IPA's and I'll continue to use it. This is my go-to LME for many styles. It's a great base for beers with bigger flavors yet versatile enough to serve as the foundation for lighter flavored ales as well. I highly recommend it if you brew with liquid extract.
