Dead Ringer IPA All-Grain Kit

Dead Ringer is a larger-than-life American IPA with a hop aroma so thick you can almost see it. American base malt and crystal malt create the big body and supporting grainy sweetness, while charge after charge of 100% Centennial hops deliver pronounced bitterness with a dominant citrus aroma and flavor. In the glass you get a pale amber color, hop intensity and malt density - substance with the soul of a session beer. April 2011: Same recipe, new name - Dead Ringer is an homage to a benchmark of the American IPA style that’s brewed in Michigan. This kit has been a customer favorite for a decade, but this spring we had to change the name after receiving a letter from a lawyer representing the brewery. While the name may be new to our customers, the recipe is exactly the same and is still the same kit that’s close to your hearts. Recommended: 2-stage fermentation and yeast starter.

Great single hop IPA Review by Jared

Just tasted this beer after only 1 week in the bottle. Was a little low on my OG it came in at 1.056 but that is just a mash tun problem on my part. It finished at 1.008 with a 1 liter yeast starter. I love this IPA it is very drinkable and makes you want more. My favorite IPA's are ones with centennial hops and this one highlights them. I did do 1 oz of centennial hops at the beginning of the boil, but I like a little more bitterness and dry hopped with 2 oz. other than that I went right with the recipe. You will be pleased with this purchase. I highly recommend!!! (Posted on 5/8/14)
It actually is a dead ringer! Review by Jimmy

Having never tasted the beer this kit is cloning I went ahead and took a chance and brewed this because I love me some IPAs and the reviews were great. I found it to be my favorite ipa right away, great tasting, strong hop nose and flavor and very citrusy. About half way through drinking the batch I was out of town at a concert venue that carried bells 2 hearted and so I had to try it and see how close it was, I can honestly say I couldn't tell the difference! I am brewing it for the 2nd time tomorrow and it's going to be a long 6 weeks before I can drink this again! (Posted on 4/8/14)
Amazing Review by John

I brewed this a couple months back and have finally gotten around to tapping the keg. This is the best IPA that I've brewed to date. Color and nose are beautiful. Most importantly, the taste is out of this world. I'll definitely be brewing this again in the future... (Posted on 2/16/14)

This brew deserves it's reputation Review by Old Raspy

This brew blows away many commercial IPA's I've paid money for, and I can say that with confidence. I still can't believe that this beer was made by me. My 2nd AG brew, but I'm already planning on making this my 3rd. The hop aroma is awesome, my wife who knows nothing about beer said it smelled "fruity". If you are a fan of centennial hops, then you'll love this beer. My advice to anyone considering this beer.... Go for it! Tastes amazing any is quite a bargain. (Posted on 1/25/14)
Excellent IPA!! Review by Matthew

I've been brewing on and off for about 8 years and this is the best IPA i've made so far. I did a 1 week primary, 2 week secondary, and then let it sit in the keg for about 3 weeks. This is a really good beer after about 6 weeks (but drinkable even sooner if you want), but still getting better everyday. Fast shipping, and everything was packaged nicely. I will definitely be buying this kit again! (Posted on 12/23/13)
Great Clone Review by Nathan

This is an solid basic IPA. Much better than other clones. I upped the centennial dry hopping from one to two ounces of pellets and a half ounce of whole leaf that I had kicking around. (Posted on 12/16/13)
My Go-To IPA. Try adding Munich malt Review by DanS

This is such a great beer. I always have it on tap. After many batches, I have taken to adding a pound of Munich malt to give it a just a little more balance. (Posted on 12/9/13)
