The Electric Fermentation Heater can be attached to a fermenter to raise the temperature of fermenting beer or wine. The EFH can be attached to a glass, plastic, or steel fermenter using electrical tape and plugged into a 110V outlet; for optimum results, use in conjunction with an electrontic temperature controller.

    CAUTION!
  • Do not immerse in liquid!
  • Do not insulate both sides!
  • Do not use if the heater shows signs of abrasion!
  • Do not set fermenter directly on top of heater!

A few pieces of tape and this thing does a great job. I fashioned an easy insulator from the box NB used to send a couple of recipes in. Taped a towel around the inside of the box on 3 sides. It takes about an hour to move from 68 to 73. Nice and easy! (Posted on 5/2/14)
Harness the cold Review by John

I've used this along with the temp control thermostat for three beers now and these two items are one of the best purchases I have made for the quality of my beers. No more carrying carboys up the stairs. No more futzing with the house thermostat or placing thermometers all over to find that just right spot. Just find the coldest part of your home, and you're set - that is until summer comes. It is perhaps the most valuable tool I have during the cold months to help me make great beers, and since it is cold here 10 months of the year, I'm set.
My carboy does remind me a bit of Frakenstien when wired up: "it's alive! alive!" (cue lightning). (Posted on 2/17/14)
A life (beer) saver Review by Andrew

I never thought I would need this product because, although I live in Wisconsin, my temperature controlled fermentation refrigerator is in my heated basement. However, on my last brew day of the year, my water pipe in my basement froze and exploded. After the plumber fixed it, I needed to keep a door open to ensure the space where the pipe was located stayed warm. In turn, this opened my basement up to major heat loss, bringing the ambient temperature down below my desired fermentation range.

In a hurry, I picked one of these, hooked it up to my Johnson Digital Temp Controller, and set it to heat. In no time, my fermentation temp was where I needed it, so I aerated and pitched, and the EFH kept my beer at a steady temp the entire duration of fermentation. (A benefit of keeping it in a fridge is that the heat is trapped, so the temp doesn't swing/drop as often.)

After all that, my Belgian Blonde turned out great, and I owe it all to this product. Thanks, Northern Brewer! (Posted on 1/7/14)
Basement too cold Review by CJ

Gave as a gift for someone using a fish tank heater & cooler set-up. Seems to be a great option for someone who deals with cold temps and needs to increase fermentation temps. (Posted on 1/4/14)

Great product, currently keeping my fridge at a good brewing temperature in my sub 32 deg F garage! Works well with the Johnson Controls electronic temperature controller. (Posted on 12/16/13)

This was an excellent purchase, great for those cooler months where you need just a bit of a kick to keep things going. I paired this with a thermowell purchased at ETC online for $12 and the Johnson A419 controller and it works great. Rated 4 stars because it could use a better mode of attachment to a carboy than electrical tape... Will work on that one (Posted on 12/7/13)

Works great in a fermentation chamber Review by Barking Dog Beer

I put this in a small fridge with a better bottle carboy. No need to even wrap the carboy, since it is in an enclosed space. I control the temp with a Johnson controller. (Posted on 12/4/13)

Bought this along with the Johnson temperature controller and they work perfect together. Kept my temp within 2 degrees the whole fermentation in a 60 degree garage. Definitely worth the money. (Posted on 12/2/13)
