It's brown, it's named after a large North American ungulate, and its name suggests oral incontinence. Ah, we market product with our minds, but we drink beer with our mouths! Which is why this American brown ale is your new favorite session beer. Dense layers of malt, caramel, baking chocolate, and a hint of light-roast coffee give way to reveal a hop character you'll be surprised to find if you're used to drinking English brown ale. The finish is complex but balanced, and the gravity is not so high as to keep you from having another.

Best Beer so far Review by Dan

This was my 4th or 5th beer I've brewed and it was by far my favorite. Turned out great and everyone else enjoyed it as well. I'm not into super hoppy beers like a lot of home brewers, so this really hit the spot. Great beer, easy to brew. (Posted on 8/31/13)

I love to brew this beer later in the summer to have it on hand for the fall enjoyment. If you particularly like brown ales, I'd recomend this one as a year round brew. It is the best home brewed brown I've tried.

The kit is easy to brew and, while it's better aged, it's also enjoyable as soon as 4 weeks from brew date. It's pretty hard to find fault with this kit. (Posted on 8/28/13)

Great beer. I've made it about four times. The first time, the cat bit a hole in my expanding Wyeast pouch (really, no joke), so I used Safale US-05 in a pinch. It was great and that's how I've made it every time since. (Posted on 8/23/13)

Enjoyed the first batch so much, I just brewed it again. Everyone who has tied it gives it a great review. (Posted on 8/22/13)

This beer compares extremely favorably to Moose Drool (obviously). I actually had sampled my first bottle after conditioning for 3 weeks and later that evening had a Moose Drool in a craft brew pub for comparison. Without side by side double blind taste test, I'd say it was about dead on. Perfect if you like brown ales...I will brew again. Thanks! (Posted on 8/20/13)

This was the 8th brew that I've made. By far this is the best kit I've produced. It's also the first kit I've made that I don't see anything that needs added to it. I would recommend this to any new brewer, you'll impress your buddies! (Posted on 8/19/13)

This was my third brew. The first two came out so-so, but this one was a huge hit. My friends and family all loved it and were amazed that I could make something so complex and flavorful. All agreed that it was one of the best beers that they've ever had. I've made a few other brews since, and and slowly improving my skills, so I'm expecting a chorus of angels when I make and share another batch of this. (Posted on 8/7/13)

I used the Caribou Slobber for the first batch of beer I've ever brewed, and it turned out great - probably one of the best beers I've had. Smooth, tasty, not too bitter - 'course everyone's tastes are different.

I just watched the DVD provided with the kit, followed the provided recipe/instructions, used a two-stage fermentation, and it came out great. The hardest part was waiting for my "grand opening" party to taste the beer for the first time....

Great beer! Review by Meg

This was our first beer brew! So cool and fun to brew, super easy instructions. 1 week in the primary fermenter. First night was VERY active. Swirling, bubbling and we could barely keep water in the air lock! 2 weeks in the secondary. Left a lot of sediment at the bottom, and even had some floaters at the top that worried us a bit. 2 more weeks in bottles and VOILA! Carbonation was perfect, we did use the entire packet of priming sugar, rather than measuring it out. Beer is delicious! Usually, I am not a brown beer person, but it is very good. Notes of caramel and coffee come through strong. I'm not sure where everyone is getting "banana" from. Has a strong start, but finishes nicely and goes down easy. Very good and my husband's favorite beer! (Posted on 7/27/13)
