It's brown, it's named after a large North American ungulate, and its name suggests oral incontinence. Ah, we market product with our minds, but we drink beer with our mouths! Which is why this American brown ale is your new favorite session beer. Dense layers of malt, caramel, baking chocolate, and a hint of light-roast coffee give way to reveal a hop character you'll be surprised to find if you're used to drinking English brown ale. The finish is complex but balanced, and the gravity is not so high as to keep you from having another.

Excellent. Review by Christopher

This beer compares extremely favorably to Moose Drool (obviously). I actually had sampled my first bottle after conditioning for 3 weeks and later that evening had a Moose Drool in a craft brew pub for comparison. Without side by side double blind taste test, I'd say it was about dead on. Perfect if you like brown ales...I will brew again. Thanks! (Posted on 8/20/13)

Success! Review by Richard

This was the 8th brew that I've made. By far this is the best kit I've produced. It's also the first kit I've made that I don't see anything that needs added to it. I would recommend this to any new brewer, you'll impress your buddies! (Posted on 8/19/13)

This was my third brew. The first two came out so-so, but this one was a huge hit. My friends and family all loved it and were amazed that I could make something so complex and flavorful. All agreed that it was one of the best beers that they've ever had. I've made a few other brews since, and and slowly improving my skills, so I'm expecting a chorus of angels when I make and share another batch of this. (Posted on 8/7/13)
Great recipe! Review by Kevin

I used the Caribou Slobber for the first batch of beer I've ever brewed, and it turned out great - probably one of the best beers I've had. Smooth, tasty, not too bitter - 'course everyone's tastes are different.

I just watched the DVD provided with the kit, followed the provided recipe/instructions, used a two-stage fermentation, and it came out great. The hardest part was waiting for my "grand opening" party to taste the beer for the first time....

Great beer! Review by Meg

This was our first beer brew! So cool and fun to brew, super easy instructions. 1 week in the primary fermenter. First night was VERY active. Swirling, bubbling and we could barely keep water in the air lock! 2 weeks in the secondary. Left a lot of sediment at the bottom, and even had some floaters at the top that worried us a bit. 2 more weeks in bottles and VOILA! Carbonation was perfect, we did use the entire packet of priming sugar, rather than measuring it out. Beer is delicious! Usually, I am not a brown beer person, but it is very good. Notes of caramel and coffee come through strong. I'm not sure where everyone is getting "banana" from. Has a strong start, but finishes nicely and goes down easy. Very good and my husband's favorite beer! (Posted on 7/27/13)
My first brew Review by Vinny

Caribou Slobber was my first brew. Not knowing anything about brewing beer I picked my first brew based on the name alone. I am glad I picked this one. It has a great dark look without being to overpowering. I thought Caribou Slobber sounded great and now i know it taste great. After brewing several others I always go back to my old favorite Caribou Slobber. A great first brew and a great all time brew. (Posted on 7/26/13)
Head Retention - WOW! Review by Mark
Rating
Never had a head endure like this one after only ONE week in the bottle (and a 3 wk. primary). Lots of sediment, possibly due to my friends inexperienced transfter, but top notch brown (& I'm not even crazy about browns). I had 1/8" head in the glass after finishing still. What a great deal included w/ a $79.99 starter kit we bought for my pal to get him started. (Posted on 7/20/13)

This is a nice beer with lots of caramel and roast, hints of chocolate and dark fruit, and a nice hop character. This was my first 5 gallon beer I've brewed, before I used to brew a different manufacturers 2 gallon kits. This is the best beer I've brewed so far. (Posted on 7/2/13)
