It's brown, it's named after a large North American ungulate, and its name suggests oral incontinence. Ah, we market product with our minds, but we drink beer with our mouths! Which is why this American brown ale is your new favorite session beer. Dense layers of malt, caramel, baking chocolate, and a hint of light-roast coffee give way to reveal a hop character you'll be surprised to find if you're used to drinking English brown ale. The finish is complex but balanced, and the gravity is not so high as to keep you from having another.

Dang, This Was Good! Review by Paul

Probably one of the better beers I've ever tasted, and certainly one of the best yet that I've brewed! Just an all-around great-tasting beer with a nice balance of hops and malt. I served this at a Christmas party, and it disappeared! This is one kit I'll be brewing again! (Posted on 12/27/10)
First and best so far Review by citking

This was my first brew kit. I had ordered the American Wheat as my first two kits and, though the American Wheat would have been easier to begin with I think, I couldn't wait to try this beer.

I made it up as described: Two weeks in the primary, two weeks in secondary, and about a week and a half in the bottle before I broke down and tried it. It was delicious! I took several to a house warming party and they were gone instantly.

As others have said the longer this sits in the bottle the better it tastes. I used Muntons KreamyX to prime it and could not have been happier with the results. (Posted on 12/16/10)

This was my first extract batch, and after trying some Moose Drool I had to get this kit. Taste was darn near perfect, will buy again for sure!! (Posted on 12/13/10)
Smooth drinkin' Review by Flash

My wife loved this one and I found myself not sharing too much with friends because I enjoyed myself. Not too much hop flavor and just enough chocolate flavor. (Posted on 12/13/10)
pretty good Review by Primeval

I enjoy the roasty notes to this beer. Reminds me of Sierra nevada Tumbler, very earthy in taste and nose. I would have liked this beer to have a little higher alcohol level. Next time I would add a pound of dry DME for an extra boost. (Posted on 11/28/10)

Excellent Review by MountainBrewer

I tried a bottle of this last night at only 4 weeks (2 primary and 2 in the bottle). Only my second NorthernBrewer recipe, but my 5th overall. By far the best beer I have ever made. I will be making this one again hands down. (Posted on 11/9/10)
Better than original Review by the brewing goat

I've had the pleasure of drinking Big Sky's Moose Drool, and I have to say that I like the NB clone better. Nothing wrong with Moose Drool, but i find the carribou slobber to be more slobbery,... smoother. Its something that moose and human can enjoy in harmony. (Posted on 11/2/10)
NB description is spot on! Review by Rob

Just cracked a bottle after a week of conditioning, jotted down my tasting notes and logged on to write my review and the NB description almost reads like a copy of mine! I do think that the coffee is a more dominant component to the aromatic and taste profile though (not a bad thing). Rich, smooth as silk mouthfeel that's balanced by just the right hint of hops to keep this very drinkable rather than heavy. My wife (who doesn't drink beer) tried a sip of this and said, "That's actually not bad." Her response is usually, "Tastes like beer." Highly recommend this one. (Posted on 10/17/10)
