Glass carboys are airtight, easily sanitized and do not hold an odor. They can be preferred to plastic buckets and plastic carboys because they do not scratch easily and do not break down over time. If handled carefully, a glass carboy will last decades while giving the same great performance for fermentations. Seal with a #6.5 stopper or Carboy Bung for Glass Carboys - Drilled (#7081). Our packaging experts have worked hard to create the best packaging and handling methods for glass carboys, so that this product arrives safe and sound.

Really like this carboy; great construction and is the perfect size for primary fermenting. (Posted on 9/8/13)
Decent carboy Review by Russ

I'm a relatively new brewer, but I own 3 glass carboys: smooth sided 5 and 6.5 gallon and this one. My two main complaints with this carboy: the raised ridges on the side correspond to dents inside that are difficult to clean and the ridges don't correspond to any useful measure. I'd hoped the horizontal marks would match up with gallon markings, but they seem decorative.

If I had it to do over again, I'd have 2 smooth sided 6.5 gallon carboys. No clogged blow off tubes and easier to clean. I bought the 5 gallon as a secondary, but I don't really need it for the ales I've been making. (Posted on 8/18/13)

Great and solid carboys Review by Reuben

These carboys are great for cleaning and being able to see your brew ferment away. I will admit they are on the heavy side but what should one expect from glass. All in all I own 2 and will continue to stock up over time. I agree with the other review that when you use starsan the stoppers must be fairly dry to stay in the carboy but after they are they stay in very well. (Posted on 9/26/12)
Heavy and Heavy-duty Review by Sasha

Empty, these are pretty heavy. Full, I have to walk them. I did drop one once while I was washing it and it didn't break (hallelujah!) so I'm not sure where people are getting "fragile". I think you'd have to drop it from a story high onto cement to break it since the glass is so thick. (Posted on 5/26/12)
Really? Don't drop a glass bottle??? Review by toes

One Complaint Review by Eric

This is your standard carboy, very robust, but don't drop it (obviously). One complaint that I would have would be that if you use star san, the neck gets slippery, and does not hold onto a new Carboy Bung for Glass Carboys - Drilled (SKU: 7081). Once you use the bung, it holds from then on. (Posted on 1/18/12)
