This kit is has everything you need to make beer with the exception of a kettle and a large stirring spoon. The kit also gives you the options of choosing glass carboys over plastic AND adding a secondary carboy of your choice. I have brewed three batches so far with this kit and love it! The only items I added were a wort chiller and the kettle. I highly recommend this kit to others interested in home brewing. Also, I would go for the glass over the plastic! The instructional DVD in the kit is helpful for beginners and has made the phrase, "Don’t Fear the Bubbles" something of a norm in my house with my kids, lol. Finally, I cannot say enough good things about Northern Brewer Company, their customer service goes above and beyond, shipping is quick and very reasonably priced and all products/ingredients are of high quality. I have to be honest, I was not expecting a whole lot of quality being "Starter Kit". I was proved wrong, this kit included everything needed to get started. The glass carboys are very durable and made in Italy. Make sure that you read the full contents list so that you dont double purchase something that is included in the kit! me and my buddy been talking about brewing beer or trying to get into this hobby. we put $200 bucks together and got a bunch of stuff. we went with the glass carboys instead of plastic ones. mostly because its better to clean. the kit came with everything one would need to make beer. (equipment wise)

we were mostly happy that shipping was only 7.99. other sites had really high shipping cost. but the same time we had a promo code for 15% off entire order so that was also a plus for us. if anyone wanted to start i would suggest this kit for them. (Posted on 4/3/12)

This was a great value. I got mine almost a year ago and have been having a great time making and drinking my own brews. I recently bought a six of craft brew and realized that I make better beer! Actually, way better beer in this case. And I'm getting better at it.
I have my eighth batch in my secondary now. If my seventh is any indicator, I won't be sharing this batch too much.

I purchased this kit back in January, and have brewed 3 batches with it so far. It's everything you need in one neat package, plus some stuff you'll end up buying later anyway once you get into your first few batches. It's a great kit. The only critique from me is the bottle filler, it's not the spring loaded one(which is less expensive), and it tends to stick open on occasion. Very small issue though, so all in all a great starter kit. (Posted on 2/18/12)
