Dead Ringer™ is a larger-than-life American IPA with a hop aroma so thick you can almost see it. American base malt and crystal malt create the big body and supporting grainy sweetness, while charge after charge of 100% Centennial hops deliver pronounced bitterness with a dominant citrus aroma and flavor. In the glass you get a pale amber color, hop intensity and malt density - substance with the soul of a session beer.

Dead ringa fo sho! Just got back into homebrewing and this small batch kit is the perfect brew recipe to get back into the groove. Going with a bit longer bottling time, based on reviews. Will definitely test my patience. Should be ready just in time for football season! (Posted on 8/24/13)

I found this ingredient kit to be fantastic. I'm a beginner in the homebrew world and I found this kit to be very easy to follow and brew. After the agonizing wait between brewing and bottle conditioning I finally got to try my beer. I loooved it! I would definitely recommend this product to someone and I am planning on making it again. Thanks for a very high quality product. (Posted on 8/10/13)

I did a double batch of the 1 gallon kit. It turned out spectacular. Everyone loved it! I had a small problem with the instructions on the hop schedule. Not sure what went wrong but everything turned out great. This is definitely one that I will be make a 5 gallon batch of... (Posted on 8/6/13)
Loved it! Review by Shawn

One of the best IPAs I've had to date!

You can't go wrong with spending 10 bucks on a one-gallon recipe, especially if you're not sure you're going to like it. Let's just say that I SHOULD have gotten the 5 gallon kit; this stuff is amazing!

Followed directions to the letter and probably let it ferment for about 3.5 weeks total before bottling. After about 10 days bottle conditioning, I put one in the fridge to cool and tried it the next day just to have a reference point in its development. It had a sharp IPA bite but absolutely no finish on it. So I let them sit in the fridge for probably 3 weeks, cracked one open and boy was I not disappointed! So smooth, crisp, great lacing, great taste and finish.

I have a couple left which have been sitting in the fridge for well over a month going on two. I have to fight myself from downing them both, so I'm keeping them for a special occasion, whatever that might be. They get better and better with age!

I will definitely have to get the 5 gallon batch, now that I've finally moved into the kegging world.

In a nutshell, if you like IPAs and this sounds like it would be an interesting brew to try, stop what you're doing and just get it. You won't be disappointed! (Posted on 7/15/13)
This Kit/Recipe is worth making the plunge to larger scale brewing Review by Thomas

This IPA turned out much better than I anticipated. Hops and Carb levels spot on! Only problem was i went through half of the batch all to easly due to the smoothness and overall drinkablity of brew. Any doubts i had about jumping into 5 Gallon batches are gone after this batch, and will be one of the first i brew large scale! too bad the starter kits dont come with this flavor as a choice! Brew Perfection Review by Haley

Was finally able to taste this anticipated IPA last weekend. It was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I were pleasantly shocked at actually how good it turned out. Followed the recipe as planned with the exception of a five week fermentation instead of four due to our busy schedule. It didn't seem to matter much. We popped the cap and poured a frosted mug that yielded fruity aromas and held a golden amber color. There wasn't an overwhelming taste of hops to disguise the overall taste of the beer. There was a perfect balance between malt, hops and herbs. We will definitely be brewing this again in the future. It may even convince us to upgrade our 1 gallon kit! If your an IPA fan, as we are, I highly suggest this kit! Happy Brewing! (Posted on 3/28/13)
Darn good for a 1 gallon batch! Moving on to the 5 gallon... Review by Greg

I bought this kit purely to test out this recipe. Hey, it's probably not exactly like the 5 gallon batch, but at least it'd be close, right? Well, I was very impressed with the outcome. My batch was quick and simple but came out really well, and 6-8 weeks after bottling it was even better. Had really nice malty flavor with firm but not overwhelming bitterness, and amazing hop aroma. When I was brewing this I'm thinking, "well if this doesn't turn out, at least it's only a half case of 12 oz bottles...". Turns out I blew through those pretty quickly it was so good. This beer is fantastic.

A note on 1 gallon brewing... It definitely made for a fun and fast and easy brew day and cleanup was a snap. I also racked this to a secondary after about a week, which resulted in some loss, so I ended up with a couple bottles shy of a 12-pack, unfortunately. My only negative here is that bottling a dozen 12 oz bottles was almost as much work as bottling 24 bombers from a 5 gallon batch...not much time saving in bottling and you'll probably go through the half case in no time.

Net/net - Try this kit to test out Dead Ringer before brewing a larger Extract batch, you'll be happy you do, but you also can't go wrong with the full size batch as well. (Posted on 1/15/13)
Excellent...and even better with time Review by burtonownz

This was my first brew of this size and it was super easy. Followed the recipe as closely as I could. Beer came out slightly opaque but pretty clear for only using primary fermentation! First few beers: hop-y precisely like I was expecting, malt characteristics were stronger than I expected, giving it a full body that was very enjoyable. Last few beers (after aging for 3-4 few weeks): more citrus-y and hop-y, lost a fair amount of the strong malt flavor, still very good! (Posted on 1/10/13)

Just got to do the first taste for this one and it's excellent. Did everything according to the recipe and I'm really pleased with it. Hops are really hoppy and as far as the carb - NB fizz drops really got it done! Cheers for the 1 gallon kits NB!! (Posted on 12/31/12)
