Who are we kidding? The low price sets the Dark Star® Burner and Stand apart from the pack. This desirably priced torch-style burner and stand makes your brew day easier and shorter, allowing you to do a full-volume boil which improves the quality of your ingredients and finished beer.

You'll be amazed at the heat this 54,000 BTU burner puts out. So much that in our Brew Cave tests, the Dark Star® Burner heated 5 gallons of water from 67°F to boiling in 17 minutes while using only 0.8 lb of propane. The burner's stand has a diameter of 17 inches, stands about 12 inches off the ground and has a built-in wind guard with ignition port for a long-stemmed lighter. It can support a boil kettle up to 10 gallons in capacity.

You get MORE than what you pay for Review by Amos

It may not be "top of the line," but you sure get a lot for your money with this burner. I've brewed several full boil (5 gal) batches with this burner, and can honestly say the quality far exceeded my expectations for the cheap price I paid. This burner is sturdy, reliable, efficient, and effective. Are there better burners out there? Yes. For $49? No. This is a good investment. (Posted on 11/12/14)
Great BTU, but disappointing design Review by Drake

When I first bought this burner it seemed pretty amazing for the price, especially how it was advertised. I've used it many times and the BTU output and efficiency is great! That being said, it creates more work in clean-up due to the poor-choice in paint/coating. The high BTU results in burning the coating off and I don't know whether or not it contaminates the beer (I haven't noticed), but this coating goes airborne and stains the kettle. This black coating then gets everywhere in my kitchen and outside where I do the brew and hope that I haven't inhaled too much. Over time the coating has completely come off where the flame hits and my sink and kettle have been successfully stained. (Posted on 11/7/14)
Great burner for the price, touchy regulator, lots of scorching. Review by Travis

I got this burner for free with a promotion and it works great as a starter burner. The build is good and gets the job done at a good price. It seems to be fairly efficient. I've brewed 9 extract kits including Karl's 90 (90 min boil) and it seems like I'll get one or more brews out of it. The only drawbacks I've noticed are a very touchy regulator and a lot of scorching on the bottom of the kettle. (Posted on 10/22/14)
Excellent Service from NB Review by Michael

Burner worked fine the first 2 times I used it. Ran into trouble on my 3rd batch-------after 90 minutes I could only reach 125 F with a closed lid on 5 gallons of water. I checked for leaks by spraying StarSan on the hose and found none. Called NB and explained my problem. They shipped out a new burner that day and I had it 6 days later. Just tested it and the flame looks strong. The 5 stars arefor customer service. Well done, NB! (Posted on 9/26/14)

I almost bought a $120 turkey burner from a home brew store but decided to go with this, I made a great decision. (Posted on 8/19/14)
Powerful burner that sips propane Review by Chris H.

This burner is awesome. It brings my 10 gallon tall boy kettle to a boil in no time at all.

Recently, I did two separate 5 gallon all-grain brew-in-a-bag batches, each with a full mash and 60 minute boil. I was shocked to find that we only burned 5lbs of propane total! That's just 2.5 lbs per batch including mash and boil.

That's incredible to me.

Definitely worth the money.

My only complaint is that it doesn't seem like the most stable burner for super-large kettles. It handles my 10 gallon kettle just fine, but a 15 to 20 gallon kettle might make me worry a bit. (Posted on 8/11/14)
Propane sipper Review by Ed

This is my first outdoor burner. I have always done "kitchen batches" before so I was very excited to try this thing out yesterday. I must not have had the heat cranked on it all the way 'cause it took me about 20 minutes to get the 6 gallons of water to steeping temp, let alone boiling. However, I found the burner very easy to use, which I like, and my only "complaint" is I wish the regulators had numbers on it so you could remember at which number you got what level of flame kicking out. I was pleased to learn that my 1.5 or so hour use only used 2.5 pounds of propane. I weighed the full tank before use (33.5 pounds) and after it was 31 pounds. Some complained that it can be loud and when I did crank the heat just to experiment, it did get a little noisy, but it was certainly not a big deal. I think I'll really enjoy using the Darkstar Burner for years. I just wish its flame would not have scorched the bottom of my new Tall Boy kettle. Not sure if that's due to the burner or kettle, but both worked well together. (Posted on 7/17/14)
Can't beat the price Review by Mark

Great burner. I've used this 6 times without a problem so far. I love the large base too; handles my kettle much better than a turkey burner and it seems more stable. (Posted on 7/12/14)

I got this for free with a NB promotion and I am glad I did. I have a Mega Pot and it is hard to fit it on the stove and my wife complains that I make the house stink. Today I set up the mega pot on the burner and was very happy when I saw how fast I got up to temperature and now the house did not smell, This little tool saves time and a wife complaint not to shabby for a freebie or the $50 asking price (that I would now gladly pay after using this). Quality seems reasonable I expect the item to last several years. Like others say you will leave a lot of carbon on the bottom of your kettle so do not put it on the kitchen counter like I did in front of the MRS she will make sure to point out what you did then complain about how you cleaned it - trust me. Works great Review by R. Miller

The burner worked very well even in windy conditions. It was very easy to "dial in" after the boil started and maintained temperature throughout the process with little adjustment..I was also very satisfied with the overall construction of the unit. Overall a great buy and great deal for the price. (Posted on 5/21/14)
