Should have purchased one years ago. Review by Steve

With this device I cooled my wort down to 100 degrees in less than 20 minutes. It really simplifies the brewing process. No more lugging my brew pot with several gallons of hot liquid over to the sink and resting it onto a pile of ice. The coil is safer, faster, and more sanitary. Great product. (Posted on 6/26/14)
Move your wort Review by James

For maximum benefit and speed in chilling your wort with any immersion chiller, ya gotta maximize contact between the chiller and the wort. There are 2 ways to do this...either gently stir the wort while chilling (this is what I do), or gently move the chiller up and down in the pot while chilling (works best in a taller pot). For me I can chill from boiling to below 80F in 10 minutes if I stir wort (vs 20-25 mins while passively running water through chiller with no stirring). Keep in mind this is with a 5-5.25 gal batch and that our water in northern Minnesota is cooooold! Cheers! (Posted on 6/21/14)
Better than expected! Review by Philip

I recently received this wort chiller, and right out of the box it was apparent that NB needs to update their picture for this item!

Instead of two hoses attached directly onto the stainless hose ends there were very high quality barb attachments (bronze) which hold the hoses in place VERY firmly.

The whole unit feels incredibly sturdy, and the garden hose attachment looks equally high quality.

I haven't yet had a chance to use this, but so far I don't foresee any problems with the unit...

As for the differences between ss/copper, I went with stainless because of its sturdiness and for being non-reactive. In reviews of the heat exchange, it sounds like the differences are that copper will cool MAYBE 20% faster, but since I only wanted to do an upgrade from an ice bath, this amount wasn't as important for me. If I come across a recipe that absolutely requires the fastest cooldown I will probably just double up with both an ice bath and wort chiller... (Posted on 4/25/14)
Very impressed! Review by Jose

Just used this for my second brew, wish I had it for my first. Cooled my wort from boiling to pitching temp in about 10 minutes, MUCH faster than an ice bath.

The fittings on the chiller I received are a lot nicer than the fittings in the picture, and the plastic tubing worked just fine, though it does kink easily.

All in all, this is an awesome product and a must-have for brewers. (Posted on 3/31/14)
not perfect, but still great Review by Hunter

Didn't cool off wort as fast as it did for others on here, but that could be attributed to being in Northeastern Florida and the water coming out of my hose not being as cool as some of you brewers lucky enough to be in places with nice weather! Very sturdy though and works right out of the box. Some people had problems with the tubing and admittedly, it isn't the best, but it didn't have any leaks or anything and held up just fine. Another fine product from my favorite homebrew supplier (Posted on 3/21/14)
Must have, BUT watch out! Review by Josh

Definitely a must have piece for proper brewing. This cools my wort in 10 minutes or less. I wish I would have bought this when I first started...

I gave it 3 stars though, because the inlet hose going into the chiller itself leaked terribly. It dripped at first, then actually started spraying a line of water out. I'll have to take it apart and redo it. Also, the hoses are cheap and kink easily at the fittings. For paying $60, I would have hoped NB would have tested the fittings at least and made sure they weren't leaky and used a more durable tubing. (Posted on 3/10/14)
Better than I thought it would be Review by Marty

After I replaced the supplied vinyl hose with stiffer hose from the local hardware store, I tested my new chiller by bringing four gallons of water to a boil, then timing how long it took to cool with the chiller. It cooled from boiling to 78*F in 7 1/2 minutes!! That means it should cool a five gallon batch in 10-12 minutes, easy. I should point out that my well puts out water that's around 38-42 degrees in the winter, and around 44-48 degrees in the summertime, so it probably will help out quite a bit having a consistently cold water supply. After my first couple of batches with the deluxe kit I was so annoyed with how long an ice bath took to cool down my beer.. So I was on a mission to find a product to cool the beer down more efficiently.. THIS IS IT! Good price, and cooled my beer down to yeast adding temp in 15 minutes! Well worth the $60. A bargain at $60. (Posted on 2/26/14)

Wish I had purchased the wort chiller before our first brew. It brought the heat down in less than 15 minutes. So much quicker and easier than an ice bath. (Posted on 2/21/14)
