Lager yeast is lager yeast Review by john

This yeast has made fine lagers for me, all different types. It made a fine Octoberfest, a great Bohemian Pilsner, and a damn fine Munich Dunkel. You have to ferment your beer at 50 degrees to get good results. If you've read other reviews about this product complaining that it doesn't work, it was because of operator error. Trust me. This yeast makes clean, clear lagers and is a great bargain (Posted on 11/24/13)

Too lazy to make a starter Review by Dave
Rating
I use this when I need to get a batch of lager going and don't have time to make a starter. I have found that pitching low at 45 deg X 3 days, then raising to 50 deg and then when the beer is almost at target gravity (another 6-10 days), raise to 60 -65 deg for a diacytl rest gives the best results. I don't usually see a krausen until day 5, but I can see the yeast growing on the side of the carboy so I know it is okay on day 3. (Posted on 9/30/12)
My yeast of choice Review by Mike

I use this yeast in every lager brewed. I mostly brew light German lagers, but have used it in imperial stouts as well. This yeast drops super clear. I am able to gravity filter from conical through a coarse plate filter to keg relatively fast. Pitch at 45 hold at 50 and this yeast is tasty. (Posted on 4/4/12)
Worth a shot, but... Review by Ed

Used this in a Cali Common fermented at around 65-70* for a week then dropped the temp to between 55-60* for two, finally to 45 for three weeks. The beer turned out very well. At racking it was god awful and I thought I may have screwed the pooch using this yeast at such warm temperatures, but time seems to fix all. The price isnt a whole lot less than liquid yeast, though, so that would be the reason for the 3 star rating. If it was 4 or 5 bucks it would get a 4, maybe 5. Ease of use is definitely there; as well as easier storage, being a dry yeast. But I have direct pitched smack packs with great results as well. It certainly creates a good "steam" beer, but not sure the value is there definitely there for a better rating. (Posted on 3/7/12)
