Agree with the other posts about it rolling into a ball. Wish I had read the review before wasting $30. The cleaning arms last for about 4 washing before the fabric tears and they fall apart. To top it all off, I contacted customer service at Carboy Cleaner after the first use and received no response from them at all.

Simply put this product is not well designed. It's basically a SS rod with a universal stopper and two makshift paddles held on to it with a bolt. The bolt holding the paddles is not a good design b/c it does not allow the paddles to freely spin independently of each other. Some type of independent rotating ball attachment for each paddle would have been a much better design. When it starts spinning the paddles just stick to one another and begin to ball up into a useless pile. the paddles are also a bit too wide for the carboy openings and can be difficult to shove through the carboy. The paddles have a firm flat plastic piece that runs from the top to about 3/4 of the way down. The last 1/4 is comprised of a thicker soft padded material. I have only used mine a few times and that firm plastic 3/4 piece is already tearing through the fabric where it meets the bottom 1/4. Again, terrible design. This is a good concept especially if you have a bunch of carboys to clean at the same time. It's just not a well executed design. Hopefully someday a new version will come out with more durable independedtly rotating paddles that conform better to all parts of the carboy and are easier to get in and out of the carboy. It also needs a better hands free stopper with a brass bushing in it that holds itself to all carboy types. You have to hold that universal stopper in place when it's running since the rubber wants to bind to the ss rod as its spinning and yanks it out. Again another quick fix poor design idea. Where the cost of this item is coming from I can only imagine. Must be the solid SS rod. (Posted on 10/17/12)

As soon as you activate your drill the arms on the cleaner collapse to an ineffectual ball. Stronger arms would rectify this problem. Different speeds don't help. It still merely collapses into a ball. I threw it in the dumpster and pulled out the old car boy brush. (Posted on 8/18/12)

Cleaner and Faster Review by Doug

Great investment to cut down time spent cleaning and get better results. I can agree with all previously posted points. I still use a brush and rinse to get the chunky stuff out. Most excited about needing only 1 to 1.5 quarts of cleaner (instead of 5 gallons) to finally be able to strip the inside surface super clean. Every once in awhile the bung guide needs to be held in place to prevent it from wobbling out...no big deal. (Posted on 5/11/12)

The only thing I dislike more than bottling is cleaning my carboys with a brush. This thing saves time, cleaning solution, and my elbow. Wobbles the carboy a little at high speeds, but I can easily live with that. I've never found a way to get my carboys as clean as this product does. (Posted on 5/6/12)

Very fast and effective for cleaning carboys, just use your carboy brush to get the chunky stuff out and then send this in for the final sparkling clean carboy in mere seconds. Works ok for cleaning kegs, tends to wabble without being braced. Either way I love this product. (Posted on 1/17/11)

Works with Better Bottle Review by Ted

I bought this recently so I could really clean my Better Bottle carboys. I soaked my Better Bottles and nearly all the crude came off, but there was still some residual film from the wort/krausen line left. I attached to my drill with some solution in the bottle and it finished cleaning up the bottle like new. The stopper plug is smaller than the Better Botttle opening, but I just held the plug at the opening and the bar did not touch the sides and it kept the cloth centered. This is the solution for Better Bottle thorough cleaning, don't need to risk scratching with a carboy bristle brush to get that final film of grime. It will work well on all other carboys too, only safe and effective method I have had for Better Bottles. I recomend

Anything to cut down time needed for cleaning and sanitizing.

Had a little difficulty cleaning off stubborn grit in the carboys with the internal grooves. A little presoak was needed.

Also works great for cleaning a Blichmann 7 gallon conical fermenator. (Posted on 11/8/10)
