Product Details

The Therminator is a stainless steel plate-type wort chiller, a miniature version of the plate chillers that the pros use. It is, unquestionably, the fastest and most efficient way to chill your wort to yeast pitching temperature.

The Therminator can chill 10 gallons of boiling wort to pitching temperature within 5 minutes when using 58°F cooling water at 5 gpm. This super-efficient chiller uses less water than any other chiller on the market, and is especially great for brewers in southern climates!

The plates and fittings are all 316 stainless steel; they have been brazed together with pure copper in an oxygen-free furnace. There is no potential for leaking, as in a gasketed unit. The fittings for the water are garden hose threads, and the wort side uses 1/2" male NPT fittings. This chiller has tremendously low restriction, making it ideal for gravity feed (no pumps required).

We strongly recommend purchasing the optional backflush assembly for use in cleaning the Therminator.

High temperature Thermoplastic or Silicone tubing with a set of Quick Disconnects will add the ultimate flexibility during the brew day.

While the Therminator can be gravity fed, a pump, like our Steelhead pump, can help control flow rates through the chiller and allow for more mounting options.

So do I need a pump for my wort when using this or can I just do a gravity feed? And if I can just use gravity how do I get all my wort thru the chiller?

Best Answer: Yes, you can gravity feed the Therminator. You simply need to make sure that your kettle is situated up above the chiller and the chiller is up above the fermentor, so that you have sufficient flow all the way through. Placing a clamp or a valve between the chiller and the fermentor can help control the flow for better chilling performance. A pump can help to eliminate lifting a heavy and boiling hot kettle though.
