Details
Are you a homebrewer who is interested in trying your hand at some wine kits? Most of your expertise and equipment carries over into winemaking, but you'll need a few additional items. This supplementary equipment product grouping provides you with options for all of the essential extra pieces of equipment you will need to make wine kits at home.
The main differences with wine kits are the need to cork bottles and the larger, 6 gallon batch size, which requires a larger primary fermenter and uses a 6 gallon carboy as a secondary fermenter. Default values will give you a 7.9 gallon fermenting bucket with lid, a Portugese Floor Corker with standard 9x1.75 corks, and a plastic paddle. Other options include the less expensive but more difficult to use Single-Lever Corker, the #8x1.75 corks that work better with this corker, a wine bottle brush, a stainless steel spoon, wine-wand or mix-stir for mixing/aerating the wine must, and glass or plastic 6 gallon carboys for aging wine. Make sure to change the quantities of the items to the appropriate levels if you are adding or substituting products.
