In true west coast style, this famously fragrant IIPA beer kit features an uncomplicated yet sturdy malt backbone to which outlandish amounts of hops are added. It has a fine balance of malt, hoppy bitterness, and warming alcohol, with a fresh hop aroma of floral citrus, and pine. Bittered with pure essence of hop, flavored with massive kettle additions, and featuring not one, but two dry hoppings, it is the first and last word when it comes to the ultimate hoppy homebrew. There is no need to stash this Imperial IPA away as it is intended to be enjoyed fresh, before the delicate hop aromas fade. Get ready to experience the ultimate lupulin threshold shift!

- 5.0 / 5.06 ReviewsPlinian Double LegacyThis is truly a wonderful ipa. I just made this for a 2nd time. It does take some time to get all your hops in order, but, it is a deep, rich, and not to hoppy beer.July 29, 2016Favorite beer of all timesThis is a great tasting beer with a tropical hop flavor. You can't go wrong if you love beers with a real strong hop punch.July 30, 2016Plinian LegacyGreat recipe! My friends and I like this more than the original. I live less than an hour from the Pliny brew house and have been able to compare the two side by side. The Legacy extract recipe rocks big time!August 4, 2016Yes, it's that good!I've been a Pliny fan for several years but only recently started home brewing. I used clone recipe's online a few times with mixed results. I brewed this kit on 1/16 and kegged it on 2/25. I did not deviate from the recipe or instruction sheet as I wanted to directly compare this to Russian Rivers Pliny the Elder. Yesterday on 3/20 I did a side by side against a bottle of Pliny. Color was darker but barely noticeable. It was not quite as clear either. Taste was very very close. Only better. This kit was preferred over the original by 4 different Pliny lovers. 5++ stars in my book!March 21, 2016WowI've never had Pliny so I'm no good to compare but I will say this is a really good IPA, I am impressed. Followed recipe to the letter but needed 2.5 weeks to carbonate (I bottle in easy cap 1L bottles). Really well rounded hoppy. Good work Northern Brewer.April 2, 2016Best I've madeI am not chiefly an IPA guy, I can appreciate a good one, but it is not the direction I normally go, so this was more for my wife than myself. I have only been home brewing for about 5 months, this was my fifth kit, and relative to style this is clearly the best I have made. I've never had Pliny, so I can't compare, but it stacks up favorably against any commercial IPA that I have had. Definitely recommended.May 27, 2016
