Can you use this to make a Melomel with honey? Whole fruit is sometimes difficult and takes up a lot of space in the fermenter, Thanks
A shopper on Aug 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I can't speak to the melomel but I wouldn't see why not. I used it in a 30% wheat lager. Sanitized my blender and pureed it (fruit and the liquid) before dumping it into the fermentor and racking on top of it. Turned out very well and I was very happy with the strawberry flavor and aroma I got from it.
Having a hard time getting the specific gravity to go to 1.040. What is going wrong?
A shopper on Jul 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Are you using a refractometer? Those give inaccurate readings once fermentation has begun. There are calculators though that can convert the gravity for you. If that isn't the case, you may be adding too much sugar. Feel free to give us a call and talk to our CS team to walk through your process! Cheers!
could you add this to fresh berrys to enhance flavor?
A shopper on Jun 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Sure, this could be used to increase the batch size and fruit flavor of a batch of fruit wine, or it can be the whole base of the wine, it's up to the winemaker.
Can this be used for a 1 gallon batch and if so will it come out right?
A shopper on Dec 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would not. These are made to make a 3 gallon or a five gallon batch; making it into just one gallon would be too concentrated, it would be difficult to get it to ferment. Instead, use the 49 oz cans of fruit puree if you want to make one gallon of fruit wine. -Mike W, Northern Brewer
