Definately Rye
Has that spicy rye aroma that you're looking for. I guess it's pretty well modified, since it didn't really gum up my mash at all (at 20% of the grist)

Can this be steeped and added to an extract brew, or does it have to be mashed?

BEST ANSWER: The rye must be mashed. It has enough diastatic potential to self covert if steeped at normal mash temp and time. I do all grain mashes so I'm not sure the best way to handle it in a partial mash.
